May 30, 200422 yr Albuquerque *RHP Kevin Olsen pitched 3 perfect innings with 3K before leaving early due to a possible injury. *3B Joe Dillon continues to mash the baseball with a HR(5") and a triple. His line is an amazing 377/429/803 *CF Chris Aguila knocked two more singles to continue his hot streak and raised his B to 345. Carolina *RHP Ron Belizario struggled once again with 5BB in only 3.2IP. There is definitely somthing wrong with his mechanics and he should be sent down to Jupiter soon. *SS Josh Wilson reached base 5 times with 2 singles, a HR(4), a triple, and a walk in 5PA to raise his BA to 301. I like this kid. *J Willy and Stokes went hitless Jupiter *C Eliezer Alfonso knocked out his 15th homer and 2nd in as many days. If this could develop any feeling for the strikezone he would be a force.
May 30, 200422 yr I like Wilson too - quietly putting together some attractive numbers. Aguila is a guy I like a lot. He showed some things in ST and seems to continue to grow as a player. May get a call up - if we can deal Nunez, definetly.

Why not call Aguila up right now? Send Nunez down so he can play everyday - Abe needs to be more aggressive and return to his Spring Training form.

We'd have to trade him to make a spot for Aguila....or send Sutton back down.
May 30, 200422 yr In the offseason, I made my case for not re-signing Castillo. I thought we would be spending too much money on a guy with declining skills. Yes, his defense would be great but his hitting I think is tied to his speed - which is suspect. For the most part, he has proven me wrong this year and has been doing fine - and only lately climbing out of a major slump. But that money could have been better spent, in my opinion. We could have gotten a FA vet to plug 2B until we found a better solution. Josh Wilson was someone I had in mind at the time and he is looking pretty good right now. We dont have to rush him because we have Luis, but you can make a pretty interesting case to trade Luis as Wilson improves. That could get us a big return. Of course, there is also Wilson Valdez and you could possibly keep Wilson at SS.
May 30, 200422 yr How old is Aguila anyway? Isnt he in his early 20's? I ask because he only has 2 HRs, but he has 13 doubles. I think this guy will have 20+HR power in the bigs.

Aguila is 26 arleady and Wathan is 27. Wathan will probably be a utility man in the majors and Aguila nothing more than a reserve outfielder.
May 30, 200422 yr He is 25 (Aguila). Dillon is 28 (turning 29). Wathan and Valdez are 27, 26 respectively. These last three guys need to get some looks. Something has to happen. And Ben Howard seems ready if we need him.
