June 7, 200422 yr I'm in the midst of reading this incredibly honest book on Miller's exeperiences as an American expatriate in Paris. Has anyone read it? What are your thoughts on it? This quote pulled me in and speaks somewhat to my own struggle with art: "This is not a book, in the ordinary sense of the word. No, this is a prolonged insult, a gob of spit in the face of Art, a kick in the pants to God, Man, Destiny, Time, Love, Beauty... I am going to sing for you, a little off key perhaps, but I will sing. I will sing while you croak, I will dance over your dirty corpse..."
June 7, 200422 yr Author I remember this from that "Seinfeld" episode. Read Tropic of Capricorn yet? Not yet...but it comes after WE. Can you explain what you mean by the "seinfeld" episode?
June 7, 200422 yr What Seinfeld episode!!!! What happens. argh. Jerry has is contacted by the library cop, who says he has an overdue book from his high school days. It was "Tropic of Cancer." Turns out, he gave it to George. And George lost it to the gym teacher, who's now homeless. Or something along those lines.
