Dinner on the Diamond raises record $42,000

MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins Community Foundation and the Florida Marlins Wives raised a record $42,000 at the Eighth Annual Dinner on the Diamond on Sunday, May 30. The event was presented by Publix and Love 94 FM. The record-setting sum of $42,000 will be donated to The Daily Bread Food Bank, Camillus House and the Florida Marlins Community Foundation. Each of the three non-profit organizations will receive over $14,000 from the event. Fans, players and front office members also donated 90 blankets at the picnic to benefit the Camillus House.

Attendees enjoyed dinner, drinks, entertainment, a silent auction, a souvenir gift and mingled with their favorite Florida Marlins players. Steel Away, a two-piece steel band from Trinidad, and Love 94 FM provided the music for the event. Players, coaches, broadcasters, Billy the Marlin, Marlins executives and other Club staff were present, with Marlins broadcaster Tommy Hutton acting as the evening's master of ceremonies.

New features at the event included Ooopsy the Clown and Company. Ooopsy provided entertainment for all the children in attendance during Dinner on the Diamond. Children were able to enjoy a bounce house, face painting, clowns, characters and a dunk tank. Fans also had an opportunity to take pictures with the World Series Trophy and a World Series ring.

Media needing more information or photos of the event should contact the Florida Marlins Media Relations Department.

Great news.

I attended with my spouse & a good time was had by all.

Got sigs from Niner, Mikey, TJ, JuanP, DDub, JustinW, & #2.

Best part - it followed an easy win over the Metz.

Kudos to Nancy, Doug, & the whole Marlins org for a wonderful event.
