Haven't seen anything - thanks for posting any known TV schedule for Marlins spring training games.

Beinfest, Fleming fired
If Miggy were still here, he would: 1- Be making $25MM a year 2- Be pushing 300 lbs 3- Be hitting maybe .280 4- Be a part time 1B, and 5- Be untradeable Cancer is often fatal. LB did what he had to do, and Maybin & LHP just didn't pan out. Such is life.

8-30 post whatever
Tommy was really pi$$ed at GS for that base running gaff. Slide my boy! It's funny how THut gets real quiet when he's upset - maybe they turn off his mike?

8/18 Post Game
Kinda Dontrelle-esque, in that he could blow out at any time. Dontrelle had too many people tinkering with his delivery along with anxiety issues. Completely different than Cishek. Sell high - see Harvey, Bryan (fail) and Mantei, Matt (success).

8/18 Post Game
The only thing about Cishek is that funky sidearm slinger delivery - Kinda Dontrelle-esque, in that he could blow out at any time. I say they move him if the deal is right. Has he passed waivers yet?

Loria a dictator?
I give the city and county much more credit in getting the stadium done than Loria, considering the teams actual contribution to the stadium isnt very high. And really, Loria had too much of a hand in the design of the stadium, because if he does hopefully sell the new owner probably isnt going to like many of the design asthetics(the home run scultpure, first and foremost, and much of the color patters of the park). I think Loria deserves most of the credit. He went though the process a couple of times. He didn't quit like previous owners. The artwork is hit or miss for people. Im not crazy about the sculpture but the rest of the park is amazing. The colors are just paint. That's not a big deal at all. I think the sculpture is absolutely genius FWIW I'd change one thing on the sculpture - when the marlin rises up on the top, I would stop it from spinning. That looks stupid. Just have it rise up, hold for 10 secondes, and lower back down. Easy fix.

Jose Fernandez signing FRI 4/12
So I'm walking up to the gate last night, and some lady wearing a Marlins employee shirt tells me JF is signing in the outside Team Store. I walk in and, sure enough, there he is. Signed a photocard for me & my date (no line at all), and was just leaving - I wanted to buy a ball for sig but they were late to get him into the pre-game stuff and he couldn't wait. JF was pretty quiet - I told him his first outing in NY was really good (like he didn't know that), and wished him well on his start tonight. Let's get him a win tonight vs. PHI.

did the stop bus from court house to ballpark end?
Parking is $20 + svc fee for Opening Day and all weekends. Just sayin'.............

Loria's letter to the fans
Using the word "ain't" in this context is ceratinly impressive - This letter won't win back anyone - they'll be lucky to draw 25K for the opener -

memories of the 1997 World Series
I attended G1 & G2. I had rights to G6 or G7. Flipped a coin with my bud and won - of course, I chose to attend G6 - K Brown was gonna close it out in JRS. . Thus, I watched the chicken run at midnight from my cozy home - still wish I'd been there!
- No longer a Marlins fan

Players that got away
On the whole, we are better at picking the unknowns rather than losing them. Uggla Ruggiano Boni Joe Nelson Amezaga Justin Miller Chad Fox Andy Fox Mordecai Few stars, but all serviceable ML players at one time or another.

Marlins Park Event 4/20/13
The evangelist Joel Osteen is coming next year to Marlins Park. The ad says STH got a password to enter to buy tickets. If any of you STH are not going, but would be willing to share your password with me, please send it via PM or email. Thanks a lot.

So that guy that used to play here just won the triple crown
But, HC, I'm sure you would agree that Miggy was on a bad path when he left here. Overweight Self-absorbed Uncooperative "You soy un cabellero!" shouted at teammates as he frolicked naked around the locker room No, I'm convinced he never would have come close to a triple crown here after the above characteristics set in and got worse.

So that guy that used to play here just won the triple crown
Obviously, Miggy was/is a rare talent. But, keep in mind that a player's success is dictated by not only his personal ability, but also the environment around him. That includes mature leaders (both players and coaches) who can help channel that ability into results. Unfortunately, our Marlins have not grown that type of atmosphere here, and it hurts when good/great performers leave to succeed elsewhere.

Ozzie Guillen
Mike Lowell has made it abundantly clear that he does not wish to manage or coach at this time. He wants to see his kids grow up for at least the next x years (and x > 5). If you were financially set like him, wouldn't you do the same?

In L.A. for Sat. night's game.
Meanwhile, THut says they should tear it down and build a new park on the same plot of land. The new TV contract could easily fund this (in addition to all those ex-Marlins they just acquired). However, having been there, I thnk it's a local icon and there's nothing wrong with it at all. Capacity of close to 55K leaves plenty of space to attract occasional fans, and the Dodger Dogs just wouldn't taste the same anywhere else.

Marlins Tasked With Determining Direction
There really aren't any big free agents worth throwing money at. I don't want Josh Hamilton. David Wright would be cool, but the Mets will pick up that option. How long has Wright been on their 40 man roster ? Is he a 5/10 guy ? Does your entire tenure on the 40 man roster count towards the 10 years even if you are in playing the majority of a year in AA or AAA ? If they pick up an option year does that count the same as a regular year under a regular contract ? Can he refuse any trade next year ? I too would love to have Wright on this team. It solves the 3rd base question until 2015. After that he should be in rapid decline. He's 30 later this year. Wright (and his agent) will want 7 yr / >$105M, not just thru 2015.

8/31 Legends Level tickets nearly half off
Is that the area that gives you $25 food or merchandise credit?

Let's talk Ruggiano
Players like Upton require a mentor - without veteran leadership, they veer off. See Ramirez, H and Cabrera, M.

Bell taking swipes and may close again
I wonder if 21 has been passed thru waivers yet? I'd guess yes, but ynk with this FO.

The Chick-fil-a dilemma
Is Chick Fil A franchised or all corporate? I f***ing hate going in there but sometimes you really want fried chicken... Franchised. They are very strict about their franchise owners though. I believe you have to work in management for the company before you own one. I have been told that they send you to school to learn their business style and expectations as well. Begs the question - Can a Jew get a franchise? Would that even be legal?

Question about the game on 7/28 vs Padres
Yes, I joined at FanFest and emailed them right away. Got no response, even after follow-up.

Question about the game on 7/28 vs Padres
I asked about this too. Got no reply from the Fan Club.

Obamacare's Indvidual Mandate UPHELD as constitutional
You really need to consider the plight of the chronically ill - MS, diabetes, athsma, etc. Friends of mine with these type maladies are "locked into" their employment, only because they can't get health insurance were they to quit & open a small business - they are considered uninsurable. Sure they could COBRA for 18 months but then they'd be on their own. So they trudged to work day after day, knowing their dreams of opening and running a small business would never happen - until ObamaCare that is. Assuming it sticks and Mitt is not elected, ObamaCare is their ticket to future independence and freedom to open a creative new business. And, I've seen statistics that 20% or more of the workforce has a chronic illness. For these folks, ObamaCare is truly a godsend.
