Morrison off limits
I suspect the FO is just pumping up LoMos value - His behavior last year would seem to point toward the door.

Stadium Name To Be Revealed Whenever They Feel Like It
Banco Popular is now known as "Community Bank" - Book it as our new stadium sponsor, but I've got a feeling there's some last minute haggling over the price.

New Stadium Pics
One idea for remodelling the OB was to place home plate in the middle of the WEST end zone. There would've been "cut-outs" in the stands down each line to make them reasonable (like about 310' each). Didn't happen, but interesting nonetheless.

Twenty Game Mini-Plans are out!
I plan to attending 10 games this year with my SO. The cost is $13/ticket/game in the Vista Reserved section, so that's 20x2x$13= $520. Possibly a small handling fee on top of that. Games are about 50/50 between FSS and weekdays. One set of tickets to every series. Walk through (inside the park) for seat selection is Saturday Nov 12. Buying the 20 game plan also entitles us to purchase opening day tickets. Of course, they are not included and will cost more than $13 each. So if anyone is interested in splitting a 20 game plan, respond to this thread & PM me contact info. I'm in Palmetto Bay (10 miles south of Coral Gables). Thx - m2266

Stadium memories
A couple of weird ones - Luis Castillo standing on deck, wtaching Tim Raines drive in the winning run in 2002. The non-AB ended his 35 game hitting streak. Preston Wilson - Walk-off HR against the Cubs - circa 2000.

Moneyball (The Movie)
Aaron Sorkin is a genius as a screenwriter. He wrote A Few Good Men, The West Wing, Charlie Wilson's War, etc...........

Do the Marlins have anyone on waivers?
Isn't it common practice for teams to put almost all players thru revocable waivers, to test trade possibilities? I don't think teams have to say who was placed on W. Most just get pulled back (except of course salary dumps like Cody).

Equipment Drive - Sat July 9
This Saturday, 7/9/11, the Marlins Community Outreach department is collecting baseball equipment to donate to worthy local organizations like the Boys & Girls Club. So, if you have any old stuff you have outgrown or don't use anymore, bring it to the game & leave it with one of the donation stations outside the gates (probably B, H, &/or F). Caps, gloves, cleats, balls, bats, jerseys, catchers gear, etc are all needed and welcome. Thanks!

Really?
Draft Jeb :-) Didn't Columba have a little problem with avoiding customers on some isht she bought in Europe? I somehow can't picture Jeb subjecting her to intense scrutiny - there's more where that came from.........

Is it just me, or...
I thought the no umbrella policy was a post 9/11 security measure. Umbrellas are banned by Sun Life due to legal liability issues. Fights, poking out an eye, concealed contraband, etc. I got this from a stadium management person, who said it went into effect on day one of JRS.

Bullpen ERA
OK - so our ERA is 2.64 (thanks Lou). But, is there a stat that measures BP total runs allowed (including those hung on the starter, like 2 to JJ on the Berkman HR)? If so, how do we rank there? I'd like to measure BP by how well they preserve a lead, not just ERA.

Fangraph releases their fielding stats
Yeah, I'm also happy Cogs is covering ground in CF. But I am concerned about his arm. Just a cut better than good old JP. I think he will be a minus arm, even when he gets 100% healthy.

Stadium Name To Be Revealed Whenever They Feel Like It
I'd bet against Publix, which is at best a regional brand. Publix has no need for their brand name to be broadcast to New York or Chicago. You're probably looking at a cellphone or computer company. Or (if MLB allows it) a liquor brand - Bacardi, anyone?

Do Spring Stats Count?
The 97 Marlins went something like 27-5 in ST

Turn Off The Lights
Other than playoff and WS games, I remember distinctly the game where Luis Castillo's 35 game hit streak ended. It was a Saturday night in June 2002, and that place was rockin' as the Marlins batted in the ninth. Everybody wanted to see LC get one more shot to get a hit after going 0-4. Tie game. RISP and Tim Raines at bat with one out. #1 on deck. Torborg could've had Rock strike out on purpose, just to give Little Looie one more shot. After all, the fish weren't going to the playoffs in '02, and the LC story was the best thing happening. But no - TR singles to center - game over. Disappointing, but very memorable al mismo tiempo.

MLB Top 20 Games of All Time #13
Nice 90 minute special. What a team that was - if only............... I learned that HWH tried to get Muhammed Ali to meet the team to inspire them. By Leyland said not to do it (and he was right).

MLB Top 20 Games of All Time #13
I know they try to keep the games under wraps, but I watched last night and could've sworn that they did a very short promo for next week's feature game. 1997 WS Game 7 - Monday 2/21 8:00 PM MLB Network
