April 18, 201115 yr Article to long to post, read about it here http://mlb.mlb.com/n..._medium=twitter I'm betting on Publix being the sponsor. Just have a feeling.
April 18, 201115 yr I'd bet against Publix, which is at best a regional brand. Publix has no need for their brand name to be broadcast to New York or Chicago. You're probably looking at a cellphone or computer company. Or (if MLB allows it) a liquor brand - Bacardi, anyone?
April 18, 201115 yr The project also is finalizing various configurations for the building for events other than baseball. At some point, the stadium, located in the Little Havana section of Miami, also will be able to handle soccer matches, along with football and basketball games as well as concerts. football and basketball? And yeah I think publix might be it Basketball absolutely. NCAA March Madness has been at Tropicana Field before, so that is no problem. Football possibly, they used to have the Insight.com Bowl (which is run by the Fiesta Bowl people) held at Bank One in AZ, and of course the Emerald Bowl is or was (is it defunct ??) at ATT in San Francisco (the Hurricanes played there in Jan 2009 against U of California). So that is very possible too. I could see as a revenue generator the Orange Bowl people maybe wanting to start a new minor bowl at our field. That is a dead time of the year and it would make some money for the businesses down in that area that start up for the new ballpark. The Marlins, the city & county I am sure will be amenable to anything that can help offset the costs of the new place.
April 18, 201115 yr If it were allowed I'd bet hard on Bacardi. Otherwise, maybe an Airline? Southwest? Spirit's already taken. I'd be a JetBlue fan for life if they did it. I already am lol. They're already all over the BankAtlantic Center. Maybe Suntrust?

It could be Sedano's or Winn-Dixie :lol too

You're probably looking at a cellphone or computer company. Or (if MLB allows it) a liquor brand - Bacardi, anyone? If MLB allows beer (Miller), then it should allow liquor. It would be pretty weird if beer is fine, but liquor is just "too far"/ I honestly just want something with a ring to it. Publix Park isn't too shabby.

It is not a regional brand anymore, they announced they wanted to expand- now with a few stores around south eastern US. I bet it's publix who will sponsor the ballPark.
April 18, 201115 yr If they name it after Publix maybe I'll get free tickets since I work there. But probably not. I think it should be called Charlie Hough Memorial Stadium. I just like how that sounds. Yes I know he's still alive.

I'm sure they will be national eventually, but not anytime soon. That's decades away I think. Only 5 states so far.
April 18, 201115 yr If they served Publix Subs at the game, I'd be pretty happy. Dr. B: JetBlue is a partner of.........wait for it.............the NEW YORK JETS!! I would be stoked if they were the sponsor for the Marlins too, especially since they're my favorite airline (when they actually have available flights, that is).

Been a TrueBlue member since I was 16 New York Jets = Green. Just sayin. Also, they're big sponsors of the Florida Panthers. So I don't see your correlation
April 18, 201115 yr Author I wouldn't mind JetBlue at all either. I really hope it's not Burger King.
April 18, 201115 yr Nice. I am looking forward to the 7,000-square foot restaurant that will be open year round.
April 18, 201115 yr Because we're looking into more than the stadium name with the company, I'd bet on a company that does most of it's business out of South Florida. Carnival, perhaps.
April 19, 201115 yr The pub has a nice ring too it. Can't vouch for Publix as a company since we don't have any up in NC as far as I know. Just hopefully the name doesn't change every few years.
April 19, 201115 yr No to JetBlue. I can't stand JetBlue because of that ass**** Yormark. Dont let a really, really bad apple ruin the airline. I mean bunch. If you've ever flown JetBlue you'd appreciate it.

Only in South Carolina, I believe, but a google search says they are looking to expand into NC. For now, Kroger's, Harris Teeter's, Trader Joe's, and Food Lion (yuck!) will have to do haha. The only Supermarket with a better name than Publix is Loblaws.
