  1. I was pretty surprised when mike hill told Ozzie that he was sending gaby down. He just looked at Ozzie and said "gaby" and pointed with a thumbs down. Kind of weird. Gaby was the adult in the room - shook all hands as thanks for the patience. I truly hope he finds a way to return.
  2. Fictional story of baseball phenom Joe Castle, circa 1973. With brief reference to FLA-NYY 2003 World Series. Quick read by a decent author. Recommended.
  3. Maybe this has been advanced - I haven't sorted thru this whole and numerous other threads. But, could it be that Hanley ran on "natural ability" thru 2010, and then just ran out of gas? Lot's of players flash in the pan (see Coghlan) - maybe Hanley flashed just a little longer. The big bucks probably didn't help him stay hungry, either. All that being said, he seems to be the type who could flourish with the right team around him - say a Pujols or some other veteran accomplished player. We had that briefly with LGon, but the effect was short=lived. So, it may be time to at least shop him - no way he gets better without a mentor, IMHO. Fire when ready................
  4. I start a week in LF; otherwise bench bat. Send down a bullpen arm - we need offense in the wost way.
  5. Buck could've stopped the bleeding in the 7th, but didn't catch that foul popup. Granted, it was not a routine play, but it is a play that is made by winners. He should've basket caught it, rather than slapping at it overhand. Game changer it was.
  6. Last night was unusual, in that heat/humidity was relatively low. Good move opening it up, but keeping the outfield wall closed (to block easterly winds). MS "open" would be a lot hotter than JRS in the same weather conditions, because the air doesn't flow into MS at all.
  7. Like how CM tried to bait Paula A into dissing Simon C. She no like.
  8. The blown rundown by Hayes was the start of this big mess of a game. Forget it and move on -
  9. Stay far away from the sugar-free mango -
  10. ESB - Excellent Story / Twist ANH - The first and best OBW ROTS - Battle on lava AOTC - SLJ cool, story meh ROTJ - Ewoks annoying TPM - Kiddie show; Darth Maul see red letter media
  11. SF is a great walking city - check out Coit Tower for panaramic view. 17 mile drive / Pebble Beach GC Hearst Castle is cool - old money. Solvang - you'd swear you were in Denmark. LA actually disappointed me - too spread out to enjoy. San Diego is much better if you can get down there for a day or two.
  12. WOW - everybody knows TESB is the best - the Luke/Vader revelation is one of the 5 best in movie history.
  13. Should stick with 2-2-1. Just elimininate one travel day between G4 & 5. I'm guessing the Playes Union opposed this sensible solution.
  14. It'll have plenty of time to be open - Even on game days, I think it has to close by like 2:00 for the cool-down.
  15. I'd love to know what became of 2003 -
  16. As noted above, the on-site garage is the best option. It's only $16 and well worth it. Be sure to buy a parking pass in advance on-line, as they don't accept cash on day of game.
  17. No doubt, Andre is a great guy and an asset to the organization. I guess many observers think that a good man will make a good manager, and that a good baseball man would want to be a manager. I do not think that's the case with Andre. He is a low profile guy, and prefers not to be in the pressure cooker every day of his life. He is also somewhat introverted, and that's a recipe for disaster with media wanting fresh quotes every day. The same sort of thing happened with Tani Perez in his short stint back in 2001. He just didn't want to do it after about a month in the hot seat, even though he served out the year. Just my $.02
  18. Gaby had a scatter-arm at UM when he played 3B there, and still does. That's why the Fish never even considered him as a ML-calibre 3B.
  19. The (ex) sponsor of the Ozzie bobblehead is a strong presence in the Cuban community - Leon Medical. It is likely they had it pulled.
  20. originally scheduled for WED 5/30 has mysteriously vanished from the official website.......
  21. I've got a Lowell '04 jersey autographed - never wear it cuz I don't want to mess it up. Also Miggy circa 2005 and CJ circa 2000 - both way to big for me to wear - these guys were massive - Probably should frame ithem...............
  22. There are really no bad seats. You can just get an inexpensive seat ($15-20) and then go down to the promenade level (which runs 360 degrees arounf the whole field) - there you can watch the game from the perspective of a $50 ticket. Granted, you will have to stand, but it's well worth it, plus the concessions are right there.
  23. 1994 - "The Governor" @ 3B 2000- Brant Brown in RF
  24. Team is 7 for 59 so far on offense... .119 average. ONE NINETEEN! Gah, I know it's just 2 games, but damn. Other than Reyes, we're at .078
