MLB Network - MLB's 20 Greatest Games
I was there as well - Upper deck row 2 - right behind home plate - a great vantage point to see the Conine throw & Pudge tag. The MLB Network commentary was pretty good - They used Dave O's calls throughout & even squeezed in some Boog near the end. Costas held off on criticizing the team for the most part, although he did descibe the Marins as a "strange franchise".

Sized Caps
I've got several sized caps that have shrunk a little bit. The old mostly wool ones - Does anyone know a good way to stretch them just a little bit? Eve 1/16 of an inch would make them so much more comfortable. Thanks -

Sons Of Anarchy
I thought the season was pretty solid.. not nearly as good as the previous one, but that was to be expected. Agreed - at least the RIPs were the black hats this year -

RIP Ron Santo
True story - Santo made history of sorts in the winter of 1973, when the Cubs attempted to trade him to the California Angels. But Santo became the first player to veto a trade because he had 10 years of major-league service and five with one club. “It was called the Santo clause, Santo told the Daily Herald in July of this year. “First of all, I didn't want to leave Chicago. I had a couple offers, and a big one from the Angels at that time. I just didn't want to go to California and move my kids or anything.

"The Tenth Inning" (Ken Burns's BASEBALL)
I enjoyed the special over the past 2 nights on PBS. The Marlins got a mention, after a short segment on the Bartman incident. But no footageof the 97 or 03 WS. Barry Bonds got a lot of screen time - a fairly balanced portrayal of his struggles with fame, drugs, and (perhaps unfair) expectations. Did you guys know that Clay Hensley gave up the HR that tied Bonds with Aaron? One unforgivable factual error - Burns said that the DBacks won the WS in their 5th year - everybody knows it was year 4. But overall, four hours well spent.

8/5 Postgame
You gotta believe that Davidson looked at the trajectory of the ball, thought it was pointing foul, and called it foul based on that limited observation. This is not a "back & to the left" situation - no conspiracy here - the ball did not magically curve from fair to foul and back to fair in a space of 20 feet. It's just too bad that it probably snuffed out the last hope we had for a miracle finish. And a huge downer for the team - it wouldn't surprise me if they go 5-15 over the next stretch, considering the morale, the schedule, and the travel.

8/5 Postgame
There's actually an IFP ("imaginary foul pole") which extends up from the third base bag (either the corner nearest the plate or the OF - not sure which). Just like the OF foul pole, if a batted ball "strikes" any part of the IFP, it is a fair ball. Davidson anticipated that Sanchez' ball would not touch the IFP, & he called it foul prematurely. He did not consider that the ball would take a "bad hop" to push it toward fair territory. I still can't understand why ERod did not play the remainder of the game under protest.

8/5 Postgame
Did Edwin play the remainder of this game "under protest"? Even though it's highly unlikely the outcome would be overturned, that would certainly bring more focus from the league office when evaulation Davidson for post-season assignments........... What are the plusses & minusses of playing under protest?

What Made You a Fan?
I've lived in Miami since 1958 & always followed baseball, even back to the days of "Diz & Pewee". In the 60s, we used to get ChiSox on WKAT, called by Milo Hamilton & Bob Elson. And the Orioles trained here - I used to go to workouts for free at old Miami Stadium (aka Bobby Maduro), Before that, I went to the Cardinals camp when it was down in Homestead. So, I'm a baseball lifer & was very happy when the Marlins came to town.
- Hey folks ! Remember today's game start at noon

What was said to Edwin Rodriguez during his interview to manage the Ma
I doubt Edwin has any say in personel matters - that's Hill/Beinfest's job. I think he was told "Edwin, manage the way you feel will win ballgames thru the end of this season. Meet with us regularly to discuss strategy & suggest roster moves - however, we will make the final roster decisions. We will evaluate your performance at the close of the season; you will be among those considered for the job in 2011 and beyond".

Coincidence?
I give Edwin credit for pulling Sanabia at exactly the right time last night - AS had just given up a hit plus a deep fly out to Dunn - That's a time Fredi might've stuck with the kid & he gets raked for HR or worse - Just my $.02

Marlins Super Saturday wristbands
Last year, they had wristnbands at Gate H - you had to buy I think $20 of raffle tickets for the Foundation and you got a wristtband to be on the field for the performance. Stop by there and see if the deals is still on for this year -

Home Plate Backstop Unveiled
Unbreakable "glass" has been around for some time. As a kid, I remember seeing commercials starring Bob Gibson. He was repeatedly firing his 100 MPH directly at a glass wall. Cool stuff.

First game's "First Pitch"
I vote for a threesome: Conine Castillo Lowell Castle & Mikey will most certainly be retired by April 2012. And reire their numbers some time during year one. Build tradition!

It seems he's had a lot of opportunities lately, and has not delivered. Not just last night, but over the past 10 games or so. Question.................

Marlins 2010 Schedule Magnet
I was not able to get one this weekend at SLS. The spin the wheel (which normally has them) did not have any. If anyone has an extra that they'd be willing to mail to me, please send me a PM. Much appreciated - M2266

Nate Robertson Acquired From Detroit
I'd personally like to know the last time a club made the playoffs with 5 RHP in the rotation. That IMO is why MH/LB did this deal.

3/29 moves
how is his defense at first? I think he should be able to hit .280 with 15-20 hr's and 70-80 rbi's At UM, he had a scatterarm at 3B, which is why he never was given a shot there. I'm pretty sure he can handle 1B, but nowhere near DLee caliber.
