December 6, 201015 yr True story - Santo made history of sorts in the winter of 1973, when the Cubs attempted to trade him to the California Angels. But Santo became the first player to veto a trade because he had 10 years of major-league service and five with one club. “It was called the Santo clause, Santo told the Daily Herald in July of this year. “First of all, I didn't want to leave Chicago. I had a couple offers, and a big one from the Angels at that time. I just didn't want to go to California and move my kids or anything.
December 9, 201015 yr Does that clause still exist? Yes, it's called the 10-5 rights, usually pronounced ten-and-five rights. As in "Mark Buerhle has a no-trade clause because of his ten-and-five rights."
