What Do They Mean By "Break Ground"?
I think mb.com should 1) paint a bunch of shovels gold, and 2) go have our own ceremony on July 5. Seriously, it'd be kinda cool to have a pic like that. Who's with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did Anyone Go To Dinner On The Diamond?
I've been several times, but not this year. In 2003, it rained and everything was in the Hall of Champions. I got Beckett's auto, plus DTrain - a big get since he had just been called up like two weeks before DotD. I was on the field a few years before that - they keep you in the outfield area. It's neat to walk the perimeter of the warning track and get a pic by the 434 sign. Met CJ/Rhonda & Damian Easley - he was so happy to be out of the Detroit cold. The food is meh - you go for the experience.

Sugar
Saw it at Regal SoBe about 3 weeks ago - Good movie - helps if you know some spanish - subtitles go by fast. Lots of it is in english after the DR segment. Shows the opportunities and pitfalls of DR players rising thru the system. Good parts with "Sugar" living with a down-home Iowa family - pretty typical of how players are housed in the low minors. See it if you can - time well spent for baseball lovers.

First time to Boston
There's a HoJo right by Fenway - not swanky but convenient. Coply Place is within about a mile - hotels & upscale shopping. Downtown is too far IMO (and too congested) - it's easy to get there to look around on the T. If you don't want to pay stadium prices, there a Walgreens just past the RF stands that sells cheap hats/shirt/allthingsSawx.

The dark side of Dubai
Gawd - Kinda reminds me of a great Western super-power built on the backs of........... .........well, you know.

How come...?
The futuristic ones from the late 90s were cool - I have John Boles game-used one. Huge fish logo on the front.... Also, they wore the old minor league "Miami Marlins" about 6 or 7 years ago - I've seen the Brad Penny one for sale somewhere. It was pretty plain - nothing special.

As we roll to 11-1 I realize that this team is only missing one thing.
On air, these guys are the best IMHO. Rich channels Kasper at times. He also has an excellent grasp of baseball history (for a young padawon). What you don't see is that Tommy is a classy representative of the team off the air as well. He is constantly talking up the team to visiting press, and really acts as the Marlins' advocate at all times. Maybe that's in his contract - not sure, but I can say that the team is better off with a credible guy like Tommy on their side. I'm sure he could get a national gig if he wanted to travel more - he clearly loves living SoFla and working near home.

TV Question
Bob - You should stick around for KC & Sunshine Band. Not sure of the date........ Still hot after all these years (and not stictly for disco ducks either).

Possibly teal seats?
I'd like to see a mixture of colors, including teal. Some stadiums do this to create the "illusion" of fans in every seat. Surely there will be days when every seat is not filled........... Think back to the awful yellow seats in the AAA which were redone a few years ago to mixed colors.

Is This A First?
Yeah - I remember the Millar homer at Wrigley. It was to RF and Sammy Sosa stumbled around before fielding the ball - I think it hit a doorway and bounced funny.

City Meeting Thread
The guy in the yellow shirt was compelling. He's a good man. He's an out-of-work carpenter that wants to work. That is the message these commissioners need to hear - over and over again.

30 Clubs in 30 Days
I got a quick glance at their all-time Marlin team, I don't recall seeing Niner on it or did I miss that. ANyone care to post what MLB had listed for line-up and bench? From memory: RF Sheff CF JP LF Alou 3B Lowell SS Shadez 2b Uggla (not Louie!) 1B DLee C CJ (not Pudge!) Did not catch the full bench (Pudge was there but Louie wasn't for sure - definite oversight there).

NLCS 2003 - Bartman Photo
Hi - I've got a good pal in Chicago who likes to rag on the Marlins. For payback, I'd like to get him a color 8X10 of the famous "Bartman/Alou" photo from NLCS G6 in 2003. Anybody know where I can get a decent quality print? I've done a limited google web search with no luck so far. Thx -

Super Bowl - Interesting Fact
Obviously, a 36 year gap (a la Colts) isn't salient. However, if the you look at the first 8 SBs, only two teams won in their debut (and you could argue that GB doesn't really count as they were dominant in the old NFL). And out of the first 15, only 3 won in their debut. And out of the first 19, only 4................ In a matchup of the best 2 teams for the year, you'd expect a little more balance between virgins and whores (I know, bad analogy, but you catch my drift).

Super Bowl - Interesting Fact
Now that the Cardinals have appeared and lost.... Only eight franchise have won the SB in their first appearance - all other winners had been there and lost before winning - First time winners: GB I NYJ III Pitt IX SF XVI CHI XX NYG XXI Ravens XXXV TB XXXVII Nineteen franchises have lost their first appearance (includes Indy, since BAL lost in III). Five franchises have never gone. This clearly suppports the theory that the hoopla is very distracting to a team that has never been there.
