This Saturday, the Marlins are sponsoring the "Baseball Tomorrow Fund Equipment Drive". It's basically to collect used (or new) baseball equipment you either don't want or need any more. The equipment will be donated to local youth organizations (last year it was to the Boy's & Girl's Club). So, bring those old cleats that don't fit anymore, bats, balls, gloves, bat bags, batting helmets, etc.... to the game at DS. They can be dropped off before you enter, outside most of the main gates. Be assured the equipment will be put to good use! I'll be volunteering at one of the gates (last year I was at Gate F). So drop by & say hi to your MB.com brother.

I think it would be awesome if he got in Joe Robbie Stadium. The greatest baseball player ever beating the most important record in baseball in South Florida and JRS being apart of history? Sign me up. Trust me - if BB is sitting on 754 coming in to JRS on 8/17, SF will make some lame excuse to sit him. No way Selig will let it happen in Miami. AA is lost at the plate as a RHB. He is fine defensively. I'd like to see what he would do as a LHB all the time. Sometimes teams/mamagers fall in love with switch-hitters and don't ever want to abandon the flexibility, but......... Play him against a few LHP and try it out - what is there to lose (until Ross returns)?

Yeah - he said it right before the 4:15 break. But, always consider the source - he backs away from stuff he kinda throws in there all the time - very unreliable and self-absorbed "face-for-radio".

....... and for all the hoopla and love given Joe Angel, I never cared for him, especially for the worst call ever on a game winning hit in the 7th game of a world series to win in the 11th. Beg to differ - JA was a great voice for the franchise. Love his "tmaitwc!" His WS call was good (not great) - "The boy becomes king.........." - obviously well thought-out, practiced, and delivered. As to DVH - he kinda acted surprised when Beckett tagged out Posada - "And it's a world series win for the Florida Marlins" - What???? Still, his voice is bearable and, while it can be a suitable stand-in for Rozerem sometimes, a lot better than most MLB voices.

OK - so it's the top of the sixth and the Twins lead 3-0. JS has given up 2 hits and stuck out 8, & he is scheduled to bat second. Tosca - "Fredi, assuming the first batter doesn't reach, let's put JS on base" Fredi - "Why?" Tosca - "Cuz we can make him run the bases and take some gas outta his tank." Fredi - "But you never give up outs, and JS is batting .076" Tosca - "I'm just saying, either we buzz him inside to instill a little fear, and if it hits him so be it. Or if he hits it, let him reach one way or another. Or walk him - I don't care - just make him run the bases". Fredi - "I don't really see it................" Tosca - "Look, he's good for at least 2 more innings, unless we find a way to tire him out. He plays in a dome and has rarely seen 90 heat and totally out of control humidity. We gotta get him out of the game to have any chance to win." Fredi - "Well, that's baseball. Under no circumstances do you let an opponent reach base with no one on - especially the pitcher." Tosca = "OK you're the boss." Discuss.
