Is Hanley in a major funk?

Featured Replies

It seems he's had a lot of opportunities lately, and has not delivered.

Not just last night, but over the past 10 games or so.

Question.................

I think he's in a bit of a funk. Lately it seems like he's been swinging at pitches outside the strike zone that he normally does not swing at. That's unusual for Hanley. I think he'll catch fire again and be up in the .320-.330 range by the end of the season.

I would say FUNK with RISP... Seems like hes getting all these opportunities and doing nothing with them...

Yet, get meaningless hits with no runners on or in a blowout... We all know he can turn it around though

He'll turn it around. Let's just be thankful for Cantu this year. He's been our MVP so far this year in terms of offense.

His production is down this year compared to his usual OPS range. Not by enough to get you seriously worried, and it's only June, but enough to warrant some concern.

The only thing I've noticed is he seems to swing at the first pitch more often this year than previous years. Obviously this is just based on perception, but I think this is also why his K's are slightly down this year. It also seems like sometimes he tries the drive the ball the other way too often, rather than pulling it when he should.

But it's only June, and he's only one serious tear away from being back on track.

Its only June? Un, we're over 1/3 of the way through the season. That doesn't mean that he is going to be in a funk the entire year, but still.

Since the 1st game of the season i notice a big difference in Hanley, his swing. Everything his doing at the plate reminds me of Manny, even taking a couple of seconds to get out of the box (looking at the ball).

He needs to go back to being himself and doing what he was doing last year

Please don't ever compare Hanley to Manny again.

Um, I would love for Hanley to be Manny at the plate.....

He had over 1.000 OPS before this year.

If Hanley is in a major funk, Brett Michaels will never pick him to be his Rock of Love!

Hanley does seem a little off this year, but I hope and think he will break out soon.
