  1. Wow. Just wow. To survive all he had to survive to get here. And to achieve all he has achieved so far and was predicted to achieve in the future. It just seems unreal.
  2. Jose should insist that the home run structure and Clevelander must travel with the team for his road starts. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  3. He's totally going to be that ex that tells their friends they dumped you because they didn't respect you while you were the one who dumped them for being too demanding. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  4. Who was the last Marlins player to actually be activated within the timeframe of their initial DL prognosis? Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  5. Why is it whenever Marlins players try to hit out an injury, they always play worse, then end up missing games anyways? Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  6. I wonder if the injury-shorten seasons the past few years have stunted Stanton's growth slightly and the ability to recognize pitches. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  7. Hmmm. Misread the box score. Apologies. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  8. We did rough up Washington on back-to-back nights in April: 6-1 and 7-0. Not blowouts like last night but not exactly nail biters. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  9. Didn't we destroy Matz and The Mets? Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  10. Can they bring back Jeff Bridges and de-age him ala Tron 2 and have him face off against the de-aged RDJ from this movie? Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  11. He's not better than either one. He's maybe on the same level: flashes of having it together in one or two starts, completely blowing it in the other starts. Living in the Bay Area, I followed Timmy the past few years. His ceiling was once so much higher than Cosart's and Koehler. But he has completely imploded, consistency wise. He's not giving you 7 or 8 innings anymore with any regularity. Think of it this way: the Giants rotation has Peavy and Cain, both on a significant downswing. Yet, the Giants are only really interested in Timmy on a minor league deal and if he is willing to be a reliever. And their FO loves Lincecum. But he's been injured too much, too inconsistent for them. That should be a red flag. I wouldn't mind Lincecum on a minor league contract with the potential of being called up. But he ain't going to be much different than Koehler and who knows how healthy he is (this showcase has been pushed back at least twice). I wouldn't want to automatically give him a rotation spot. 12. He won't be better than Koehler and Cosart... Except if we only pitch him against the Padres.
  13. A lot of commentators are saying "Why not cheat?" in the context of "Why not cheat, because the penalty of getting caught is so light compared to getting that money." I don't think they are condoning the cheating, but rather stating how the system is not currently working as intended. 80 games off, no playoffs, for 50 million? Ethically, morally, it is wrong. But financially... And, unfortunately (and as an aside), morality doesn't exist in a vacuum. I might say I would return $20 if I found it in the street (and I have). But I also might take it if it'll be hard (but not impossible) to track down the person and I just went to an expensive dinner. But it would be right for someone to judge me and find me lacking. In both cases, I am aware of the consequences, but I disregard them in the second case. It is the rationalization that kills you. Because, ultimately, you are not responsible to yourself, but to society as a whole, and in that moment and going forward from that choice. If you steal bread to feed your hungry children, that's acceptable, but also, if the police catch you and charge you, that is also acceptable. If you are going to break the rules, sometimes I find it hard to stir up sympathy if you get caught (sympathy may be given depending on punishment). Back to baseball. I am surprised that I am also hearing a lot of players say in the new CBA, they want contracts to be voided if a player is caught using PEDs. I wouldn't be surprised to see some form of that in the next few years.
  14. Baseball is not like football where the manager/head coach can have player personnel control. Most managers probably don't even interact with the FO that much during the off-season. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  15. I was disappointed by the team's effort yesterday but when Dee just couldn't grab the liner over his head in the eighth inning last night and was visibly upset, pounding the ground, I at least was able to think that his desire fire was burning. I don't think he is slacking off, he is just in a big slump like the rest of the team. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  16. If Loria sells in the next 3 years, do you think the new owner tries to clear the roster to rebuild but be immediately labeled another "fire sale" owner or he keeps the roster as is, more or less with minor tweaks. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  17. I was at the game last night in my Marlins gear and the giants fan sitting in front of me kept on asking me what was wrong with Stanton. He looked lost at the plate and when he made contact, it was weak. What was the last time the Marlins had a first month that ended above .500? Seems like lately they start the season off ice cold and we have a big hole to dig out of. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  18. So Prado got further than second base with his wife. He could teach Stanton a few things, amirite? Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  19. Cosart is slowly turning into AJ Burnett without the past success but with the last-year-with-the-team complaining. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
  20. This off season has really been so-sa.
  21. Jose and no one, well, this will be "fun"!
  22. I really like Alvarez and am disappointed to see him go. But he was also frustrating, constantly being injured and the rumors of him pitching thrown partial tears of who-knows-what. When he was on the mound, he was reliable, but how often can you rely on him being on the mound? I can see why the Marlins non-tendered him and why the A's would take a flyer on him.
