September 9, 20169 yr http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17505074/andrew-cashner-says-miami-marlins-facial-hair-rule-big-deal-free-agency "Marlins pitcher Andrew Cashner recently indicated that he would be interested in re-signing with Miami as a free agent if the organization gets rid of its no-beard policy." So instead of leaving a team who was way out of contention and welcoming a change in scenery and a playoff chase- he's still complaining about having to shave his facial pubes. Cmon man, your a professional- and a good one at that. Suck it up for four months. You were 0-5 until this week after the trade, your focusing on the wrong things. If you came and did here what you did in SD, we'd be in contention instead of pretending. The SD was a good one, you gotta move prospects to go for the jugular in this type of atmosphere- but more and more I question targeting Cashner and dealing w SD and their FO. Padres are the team in Fantasy Football who trades you a player whose been relegated to passing downs and tosses in the wideout w/ a broken leg that isn't listed in the injury report or "player news" yet. September 10, 20169 yr He's totally going to be that ex that tells their friends they dumped you because they didn't respect you while you were the one who dumped them for being too demanding. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
September 10, 20169 yr I'll be glad to see the back of him. My dislike of him is almost at Heath Bell levels.
September 10, 20169 yr The Marlins seem like they have a habit of trading for douchebag pitchers. What's Mat Latos up to these days?

September 12, 20169 yr Author Per Buster Olney- September Trades- get him the fuck outta here. "The most obvious options would be veteran starters who are nearing free agency with other teams, such as Ivan Nova of the Pirates, who is 5-0 with a 2.53 ERA in 46 1/3 innings since the Yankees swapped him to Pittsburgh, or Andrew Cashner of the Marlins. (Cashner would like this about the Astros: They allow beards, unlike Miami, which has a policy that irks the right-hander.) With Pittsburgh and Miami all but dead in the playoff hunt, those teams could be willing to consider offers for those pitchers before they hit the market." Both teams are better off keeping them and hoping they get an unexpected boost from them. Both teams are still in it albeit in need of a miracle. Might as well hope those guys give you part of that miracle.

If we lose Cashner to free agency, do we get a compensatory draft pick?

September 12, 20169 yr What's silly is hoping for a miracle. Serious question:. If we lose Cashner to free agency, do we get a compensatory draft pick? You think the Marlins or Pirates can actually get something back in trading Cashner or Nova to anyone for three weeks of the season? Basically two or three starts left for each?
September 12, 20169 yr You think the Marlins or Pirates can actually get something back in trading Cashner or Nova to anyone for three weeks of the season? Basically two or three starts left for each? I'm pretty sure nobody can be traded now, as I believe the waiver deadline has passed already.
September 12, 20169 yr I'm pretty sure nobody can be traded now, as I believe the waiver deadline has passed already. They can be traded as long as they previously cleared waivers but they wouldn't be playoff eligible so trades are unlikely this time of year.

September 13, 20169 yr Maybe A.J. Preller would need to watch his back, because "Fired" Mike Hill will do something.
