Would you trade 2003 World Series...
ETA: That's Game 4, with the Conine throw. Can't find Game 3 (if that's the one you were actually thinking of)

Dan Jennings Fired
The only issue Mattingly might have with DJ is that DJ was the most recent manager and he may not want him "looking over his shoulder." Though, of course, DJ wasn't that great of a manager, nor experienced enough that I would think DJ would be making managerial suggestions to Mattingly.

Mattingly and Dodgers "Part Ways"
Here's a thought: Mattingly left the Dodgers in part because he didn't want to work for a regime/GM that didn't hire him. He is keen on the Marlins job. Does that mean that Loria told him that he (Loria) isn't going to sell the team any time soon?

But DJ had already double switched his flights!

Jim Benedict - VP, Pitching Development
Sounds like he is the Perry Hill of pitchers. Which sounds exciting!

Jim Benedict - VP, Pitching Development
And a traitor to this country. But also a delicious breakfast dish, so it is a wash.

Mattingly and Dodgers "Part Ways"
Don going from one of the most pressure-filled managerial jobs to one of the least will be good for his long term health.

Dave Magadan
Something irregardless of what the big league club would want him to do.

Dave Magadan
They weren't checking out his eyes…

Dave Magadan
True story: my mom and her friend used to take the binoculars from us kids at Marlins games just to check out Magadan.

Bowa getting second interview
If we want a Bowa, why not hire Hulk Hogan? I am sure he can get his in Marlins colors and you know he will send Gordon on every pitch, letting him run wild.

Bowa getting second interview
Jack McKeon calls him an up-and-comer.

Is Capps wearing a Mariners shirt today?
His horse had a little unusual giddy-up to it.

Front Office Update
I might be able to squint and be okay with the starting lineup. Especially if we get a manager than won't hesitate to platoon. The starting rotation, however, while not horrible, just has too many question marks to be happy with the Fish not going after a top-line starter. I won't even be upset if we go big and don't sign anyone, but the FO should at least kick the tires with the bigger SP names out there to shore up the rotation. HA will probably be injured again, I am scared how they will handle Jose, and the younger kids are still unproven. We need an anchor, a reliable guy out there every five days.

Lloyd McClendon?
I remember when the Mariners and Marlins both extensively used teal. I would always glance at SportsCenter, see a great highlight from a team in teal, and then be disappointed it was the Mariners, not the Marlins. And even their names sound similar! That's all I can add to these managerial threads.

Salty who?

Status of DJ and Loria's relationship
For official word, I checked Loria's Facebook page. It says "It's Complicated"

To Sign or not, Ichiro
Obviously, after today, the FO is going to sign Ichiro as a relief pitcher.

Missed connections or casual meetings?

Bo Porter Interviews for Marlins Manager
If the Marlins want to ride the subway, they gotta find a token first.

Marlins asked Guillen to come back in May
At least the Zombie Marlins FO would make use of sabremetrics, what with all those BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS!
-
Tomorrow's starter
I really would have thought that Hand's ERA would be a high five.

Marlins asked Guillen to come back in May
Yeah, but he turned them down. Can't stand the heat. Though maybe his stance has thawed since then.

Capps done for year
And yet, it didn't seem like the injury was that serious. They didn't even need to Carter him off the field.
