April 24, 201610 yr I'm a firm believer in doing well for your company and not necessarily standing out but doing an admirable job. When he was praised and received that chain, I believe that's a bad omen. I don't think he's gotten a hit since and I have lost faith in him. Kind of like canseco getting a street named after him in Miami and they had to take it down based on steroids. Him being presented this chain in the middle of the season was the wrong thing to do.
April 24, 201610 yr Honor somebody when they are retired or dead, not in the middle of the career. Gordon should have been given this chain in the offseason or spring training and it's blatant he is trying too hard.
April 24, 201610 yr You lost faith in him? Come on, bro I felt it was a big mistake to waddle down to the clubhouse and give him that chain. I suppose it's a Dee Gordon too much pressure/ I hate fucking loria for what he did thread. Loria should have gave him that in private.
April 24, 201610 yr Would you still let your daughter date him though? He's a good guy. But I don't have a daughter.
April 24, 201610 yr It was a nice gesture but I feel you are looking too much into it. Too many guys are struggling right now in the line up outside of Yelich, Bour, Prado. This is a much different team when Stanton is clicking. If Yelich gets on base with two outs but then Stanton strike out you can generate crap with that.
April 24, 201610 yr it ruined Hanley.... I forgot who mentioned this recently. I think my father said this yesterday. and this is true. word of warning: don't praise anyone too much or they might shit the bed next time you see them. this is why I think huge contracts are bad because you are mentally phoning it in if its guaranteed money. not all the time this is the case, but more often than not.

From everything I've seen, read, and heard through the grapevine - whether it be an interview with Dee or his peers, an article, or just the ol' "eye" test, he doesn't seem to be lazy at all and truly takes his successes and failures to heart. Some players do phone it in though, no doubt there, i just don't see that in him at all. .....Then again, this could be sarcasm on your part in regard to Gordon since it's still early in the season and if this slump happened in July it would barely be noticed.

I just found it offputting to present him a chain in front of the media. spring training would have been more appropriate.
April 24, 201610 yr I was disappointed by the team's effort yesterday but when Dee just couldn't grab the liner over his head in the eighth inning last night and was visibly upset, pounding the ground, I at least was able to think that his desire fire was burning. I don't think he is slacking off, he is just in a big slump like the rest of the team. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
April 25, 201610 yr Some really stupid shit right here. You probably think saying a guy is throwing a no-hitter will jinx it too, right? .
April 25, 201610 yr Some really stupid shit right here. You probably think saying a guy is throwing a no-hitter will jinx it too, right? . ughhh man you just blew Chen's chances of a no hitter tonight!

Watch the replay of JT Realumtos home run from yesterday. Look at Dee's reaction vs Stanton.
April 25, 201610 yr Some really stupid shit right here. You probably think saying a guy is throwing a no-hitter will jinx it too, right? . I won't stoop so low to insult you. Know why? Cause it's a beautiful day outside.
April 25, 201610 yr Agreed. Watch the replay of JT Realumtos home run from yesterday. Look at Dee's reaction vs Stanton. that is so telling. you are correct. Stanton looked like he didn't want to be there. not saying he is an ass or anything but dee looked like a kid excited for the homer. hmm....

April 25, 201610 yr Exactly at the end of the day we have to remember its not about individual performances, its about team wins. I don't know about you, I would have jumped up for joy that realmuto homered. that cosart episode at citi field got me so upset, especially that his starts haven't been good since.

If you were in that dugout, and weren't excited in that moment, you don't have a pulse. It's not like Stanton has been in 15 World Series games, or even playoff games for that matter. It really made me sour

It's not like Stanton has been in 15 World Series games, or even playoff games for that matter. It really made me sour I don't blame you. well, let's chalk up to Stanton still feeling bad for his recent slump (though he already homered). would like him to show a bit of emotion if another guy comes through today.
April 26, 201610 yr You guys are taking a glimpse of Stanton and inferring waaaaay too much. And you are assuming this is the only time it has been noticed. Watch Dee's reaction vs Stantons in almost all aspects of the game. I'm not saying he doesn't care, I'm just saying he plays with very little emotion.
April 26, 201610 yr It's almost as if people are different and approach the game differently. Go back and watch stantons big moments. The dude is serious during a game. He doesn't show much emotion either way. For you two numbskulls to take that and say he doesn't care is really dumb. You're right I totally said Stanton doesn't care.
