I agree with mattinglys comments after the game how calls never go the Marlins way and it's like umps feel it's ok to screw the Marlins. In fact it's one reason I feel our managers have done well with challenges. Because the umps tend to give the other side the benefit of the doubt more often than not on close calls. Good job Mattingly. I totally agree with you. 

 

 

Cosart's post game comments were interesting as well if not very Heath Bell backhanded... He said he's changed things with his mechanics and would like to go back to what worked for him in the past and that he was gonna bring it up to Nieves. He could be absolutely right but it also hints at his discontent with Nieves. Found that a bit too blunt to be said in a post game interview.

I agree with Mattingly but it's not our record that sways the umps, it's the individual performances of the players in the situation at any given moment. If we're 15-0 but Cosart pitches the way he did yesterday, the umps won't give him the close calls. But conversely if we're 0-15 and Jose is nailing all his spots and striking out every other hitter, he'll get the close calls.

As much as I really love the "stuff" that Cosart has. He isn't a good pitcher. His location blows and he can't get outs. I would rather have a guy that is less physically gifted and be a better overall pitcher.

Cosart has never been good. He's been lucky, sure, but never good. I hated the trade when it happened and hate it even more now with the emergence of Martes.  You cannot be a successful MLB starting pitcher his awful bb and so rates.
