Don't look now, it's the return of......
Yo Hanley looks BEAST in that picture! He's gonna destroy the baseball this year and it looks like he is gonna have a lot of FUN on this team and with this manager...

Prince Fielder to Tigers
I don't know why Mo Vaugn's name keeps being mentioned. Yes, besides the fact that he is fat, he came from an era that was rich with steroids... Any player coming from that era whose numbers fell off the deep end in such a short time period can't be taken seriously...IMO you can't compare the two players

Does anyone else get the sense the Marlins aren't serious?
I think the fact that Ozzie Guillen is one of the top paid managers in baseball has got to mean something. I think you should start taking the Marlins seriously...just sayin

C.J. Wilson to Angels
If we can somehow get Wilson AND Buehrle, that would be the ideal scenario. We'd still have money for Reyes and Cespedes, assuming Gaby/Lomo and Nolasco are sent out to bring back an additional low-cost SP (Gio from the A's). I would imagine other teams would prefer LoMo to Gaby, which I am fine with given LoMo's reputation in the club house. Not only do championship clubs need talent, but more importantly, team chemistry. Package LoMo with Nolasco and a throw-in and we should come up with a pretty solid #2-3 starter. Hang on a sec, there. Trading Nolasco saves $9MM, yes. But Wilson and Buehrle should approach $30MM/year between the 2 of them; Reyes should get at least $15MM, and Cespedes at least $5MM. That's adding $50MM and subtracting $9MM. So, if we add net $40MM, then our payroll would be sitting at $100MM. We have to remember though, just because someone signs a 5/$125 doesn't mean we'll be paying him 25 million per season. I guarantee you these offers the marlins have out are heavily backloaded. Remember how long we payed hampton? Hell, the dodgers are still paying for manny ramirez and even worse andruw jones! For all we know pujols would only make 15 this year, reyes 8, and buerhle/wilson would make 15 between the two leaving us at 38 - 9 if we trade nolasco which would be roughly 30 million dollars we add on. So, honestly, I think we have a little more of a chance than people think since it's not just adding numbers based on the deal divided by years. I'm sure they know what they're doing in the front office. This is very true... If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that the Marlins have a big fat $0.00 committed to players starting in 2014 (of course not counting arbitration)...

C.J. Wilson to Angels
Not saying it's gonna happen, just a strong possiblity

C.J. Wilson to Angels
Yeah I doubt we keep both... Chances are we are going to trade one of those in order to free up some more money or to go after other pitchers... I've heard Nolasco's name linked to Colorado several times, as well as Anibal's

C.J. Wilson to Angels
I would rather go out and get CJ Wilson than spend the money on an aging Pujols... Yes, I would love to get Pujols, but this team simply cannot afford to just dish out 200 million on a player, even if that player is the best hitter in the history of the sport. (Man even as I type this I'm doubting my reasoning...lol) But the fact of the matter remains that this team needs a pitcher more than it needs another power hitting 1B. We already have Stanton and Gaby is the hometown kid who is a very solid 1B. Go out and spend the money on CJ and shore up out rotation so we can go out and compete with the Phillies' rotation. IMO: Johnson, Wilson, and Buerhle would be an extremely formidable 1-2-3 punch... Throw in a Nolasco or Anibal and our rotation looks like one of, if not, the best rotation in the Majors

Fox Sports Florida Intro
I just wish the shots that included the stands actually had fans in them... I'm sure they could have found suitable film of games that had a large attendance.

Miami Marlins
The old school "M" is too similar to UM's and this will definitely not our color scheme... I do like the logo itself though!

Ozzie Guillen, the next manager?
OMG i have always wanted Ozzie Guillen as our manager. The whole Hanley thing does not bother me, in fact the only aspect of this that would scare me a little bit would be his relationship with Loria. Loria seems like the kind of owner where it's his way or no way at all, and Ozzie does not work like that. He likes complete control over his team and doesn't want anyone getting into his business. Either I sure think it's worth it.

Deals May be Coming
One mroe thing... by trading these players, it will open up roster spots for Maybin (who I still think will mature to be a very good player), Morrison, Dominquez, move CC over to second, and so on. This way by the time the stadium opens in 2 years, these players will have already had significant MLB experience and be primed to make a playoff run. We have the talent, it just needs to be groomed and molded.

Deals May be Coming
i am open to trade anyone not named JJ, Hanley, CC, Stanton, or Gaby... This team NEEDS to get rid of players like Uggla who in my opinion does not help this team when it really matters most (a la a runner on second with two outs). I seriously hope the Marlins reconsider trading Nolasco. The fact that he has had a down year will make it a lot cheaper to sign him to a contract that could keep him around. He is still a very good pitcher.

Chris Coghlan is pissed
This team is the most disheartening team I've ever seen in professional sports. The Heat that won 15 games had more passion than this team. Where the hell is a situational hitter when you need one for crying out loud?!?!?!

The Puerto Rican Series and Marlins Managers
I think it's really stupid to keep Rodriguez in order to please Puerto Rico fans... let's forget about winning for the time being and just have good PR!!! What a load of BS

Is Hanley in a major funk?
He'll turn it around. Let's just be thankful for Cantu this year. He's been our MVP so far this year in terms of offense.

Josh Johnson 2nd Best Starter Over the Next Decade
jesus man, it's not science. The more pitches you throw and the smaller the stature, the more likely he is of breaking down. Do me a favor, waste a couple more hours of your life and give me ten pitchers who had the same small stature as Lincecum and threw as many pitches as he did. now tell me how many of those pitchers were dominant for over 15 years? You'll be hard pressed to find a lot... lmao
-
Josh Johnson 2nd Best Starter Over the Next Decade
The only reason why I don't think Lincecum continues his dominance over the next decade is simply because of the number of pitches he throws every year. Forget the number of innings he chews up year in and year out. When you strike out the number of batters he does, that ultimately takes a toll on your arm. simply put, when you strike out more batters, it requires you to throw more pitches. Add that on top of the number of innings pitched, it takes a lot out of you.

Josh Johnson 2nd Best Starter Over the Next Decade
JJ has better stuff than Beckett, but it is unfair to make that comparison until we see what JJ can do in the post-season. Beckett is one of the best clutch pitchers in the history of the game.

Imperfect Game
I don't want to open a can of worms, but the umpire made the right call. Did the runner beat the throw to first? No, but Galarraga did not have full control of the ball when he caught it. Replays clearly show he snowconed the catch and double clutched the ball before it settled into his glove. If this was any other situation, people would not be focusing so much on the runner beating the throw and would realize that the pitcher didn't even have control of the ball. Runner was safe.
