July 5, 201016 yr According to the Chicago Tribune, White Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen is the Marlins’ top choice to replace Fredi Gonzalez as manager if he were to become available after the season. The Marlins’ decision to keep Edwin Rodriguez as manager through the end of the year came about because ownership wants to see which managers are available after the season. Ozzie Guillen would be at the top of the Marlins’ list if he were available. … It’s a little odd that the Tribune would have that sort of information hidden in an article and not provide more details as to why the Marlins want Ozzie. But maybe they don’t have any more information outside of that. Guillen was a coach with the Marlins in 2003 when they won the World Series, so he has ties to Florida. There’s no doubt he could provide a spark for the Marlins young roster and he’s already proved that he can win. It wouldn’t be a bad fit. One thing’s for sure, I would want front row seats to the first Ozzie-Hanley argument if Guillen does wind up in South Florida. What a fireworks display that would be.

Oh my, that would be quite erratic, I do believe. Although Hanley may have a little more respect for Ozzie because he "played in the major leagues".
July 5, 201016 yr OMG i have always wanted Ozzie Guillen as our manager. The whole Hanley thing does not bother me, in fact the only aspect of this that would scare me a little bit would be his relationship with Loria. Loria seems like the kind of owner where it's his way or no way at all, and Ozzie does not work like that. He likes complete control over his team and doesn't want anyone getting into his business. Either I sure think it's worth it.
July 5, 201016 yr When we found out how the Bobby V situation shook out and made Edwin the interim manager for the rest of the year, Ozzie was the first name I instantly thought of. I remember reading an article a few weeks ago right as Fredi was getting the axe that the Sox probably weren't going to bring Ozzie back next year. Then I started putting two and two together (primarily that he was a coach for this FO, so he's a known commodity). It's worth noting, however, he stated in several articles dated June 23 he has no interest in the Marlins job, and if they're looking for a "yes, ma'am", follow the leader type manager (as the rumor coming out over the Bobby V fiasco was there was a difference in philosophies regtarding ownership/FO invovlement on on-field decisions), Ozzie IS NOT a candidate.
July 5, 201016 yr I really, really don't see it. I thought the FO hired fredi to be their whipping boy, and now they'd hire quite possibly one of the most outspoken managers in the bigs today?

Did Jeffrey have a sex change operation and is now Jane??? lololol
July 5, 201016 yr Guillen has ties to us, and he also has a lot more times to the White Sox. Being a base coach here doesn't compare to spending your playing career somewhere and then being the first manager to win the WS there in a very long time period. There's always friction in that Chicago organization, but not any more than he'd have here.
July 5, 201016 yr I can't stand his persona. It's gotten overly obnoxious. He made me laugh once upon a time, but not so much recently.
July 5, 201016 yr I highly doubt Loria would ever sign off on Ozzie...He would be fun, however he would be fired in less than 6months
July 6, 201016 yr Pleeeeeaaaasssseeee, let this happen. I'd be getting nice tickets a lot more often.
July 6, 201016 yr Eh, there has been a bit more tension then usual between Ozzie and the White Sox front office this year plus there have been a few reports about La Russa saying he wouldn't managing the White Sox, I guess he is close with someone in the front office so if a couple of things fall in the right place I can easily see Guillen being gone after this year. I don't see him coing here though because he is everything Loria doesn't want, expensive and vocal. Personally I wouldn't want him either, he's nothing more then a side show really. Never really seemed to be that great of a manager.
July 7, 201016 yr I feel like he'd be a good manager for someone like Hanley Ramirez. Fun Loving but hardass with a temper and doesn't take sh*t from his players and will call them out if needed. He's a good manager but since 05 the White Sox never really built up the right group of talent to get into the playoffs.
July 7, 201016 yr Managers like Ozzie Guillen are more fun when they are somebody else's manager. LOL Pretty good point.
July 7, 201016 yr i like the guy less and less as time passes .... his routine is very old to me now and I'd hate to see him as the manager let him go to the mets
July 7, 201016 yr Managers like Ozzie Guillen are more fun when they are somebody else's manager. LOL Pretty good point. X2 I love Ozzie, met him in 04 and he was a really cool guy. However, he just isn't the right fit for this team and this front office. If you thought Bobby Valentine would butt heads, just imagine Ozzie Guillen and Jeffery Loria going at it. Also, Ozzie is like a train wreck. It'll be interesting to watch as things start to fall apart, but if you are in that train you are going to feel a whole lotta pain.
July 7, 201016 yr I absolutely love Ozzie but I don't think he's going anywhere. Any manager who can call out his players publicly but is still beloved in the clubhouse is doing something right. And that can't be understated enough.. players absolutely love the guy.
