June 12, 200422 yr Brad Davis and Jason Vargas in action. Well, Vargas is playing DH, but he's still in action. He might be the Dirtbags best hitter.
June 12, 200422 yr Vargas can mash. I wanted to watch Davis behind the plate after reading what scouts think of his D
June 12, 200422 yr Author lol Vargas got on with an infield single and Brad Davis knocked him in with a single. Good start for our guys. 1-0 LBS
June 12, 200422 yr Good job by the future "Guppies" Boxscore: http://www.ncaasports.com/baseball/mens/ga...per_region08/01
June 12, 200422 yr Author Holy s***, I don't know if anyone else is watching but Davis has a hose. He just threw out Arizona's best base stealer by a mile with a bullet and it was a perfect strike.
June 12, 200422 yr Author Davis finishes 3-4 with 3 singles and a k. He just barely missed a double before the k. The ball hit I'd say less than a foot from the chalk. The guy that was pitching to him had the weirdest set-up I have ever seen.
June 12, 200422 yr Author Holy Crap Arizona tied it up. Davis might not be done. I don't know how they plan on using Vargas as a pitcher, and I don't know the rules for even being able to use Vargas because he is the DH, but they might need him to pitch if this thing goes to extras.

June 12, 200422 yr Author 6-5 headed to the 9th. The runner was gunned down at the plate to end the inning. Nice block of the plate by Davis.
June 12, 200422 yr Author Long Beach State loses 6-5. A crushing loss for the Dirtbags, losing in Weaver's start. I was pretty impressed with Brad Davis, he looked like he had a good approach at the plate, didn't look like he had a lot of pop, but that can be developed. He looked pretty good defensively, seemed like he got a little careless on one pass ball, but overall he looked good, and man he has got a hell of an arm.
June 14, 200422 yr ESPN 2 just switched to the Long Beach St./Arizona game. Marlins draft pick Jason Vargas is pitching pretty well for the "Dirtbags". It's the top of the 7th LB St. leads 2-1. Vargas is 0-3 hitting, Brad Davis 2 for 3. http://www.ncaasports.com/baseball/mens/ga...per_region08/03
June 14, 200422 yr Extra innings and Long Beach threatening! Does anyone know if we've signed anyone? I've seen nothing from the wire reports and the New York Penn and Appalachian leagues start this week.
June 14, 200422 yr Author Arizona is going to the college world series. Vargas went 6.2 innings giving up only 2 earned runs, and Davis went 2-5.
