    He said that at the start of the game I wasn't home, I just turned it on like 20 minutes ago.

    A lot of players will never wash their hats or batting helmets, they could be covered in dirt to the point where you can barely see the logo and they still won't clean it off. If they get into a slump, then they'll clean it... it's not uncommon at all to see things like this. Everyone has their own superstitions, some are just more visible and noticeable than others.
