July 11, 200422 yr When will Josh Willingham be given a chance at catcher? After all, he is supposed to be the catcher of the future. Does anyone have a clue. I'd very much like to see what he's capable of.
July 11, 200422 yr He doesn't have much experience at catcher, honestly I don't know if I could trust him there at the Major League level right now. Maybe if he had another year under his belt at the position.
July 11, 200422 yr yeah, i think people underestimate what's involved in being a catcher. the reason that there are so few solid-hitting catchers out there is that it's more important for a team to have a solid defensive catcher than a solid offensive catcher. more to the point, you can't let a guy "work the kinks out" at that position. if the guy doesn't know what he's doing, you'd have baserunners stealing bases all over the place.

The staff needs to learn to hold runners. :thumbdown
