July 24, 200422 yr We'd be losing more valuable players and be paying about the same amount for Javy as we would Kendall. 473158 Yeah, I agree, we'd have to "convince" the Orioles to trade Lopez, while it's no secret the Pirates want out from under Kendall's contract. Honestly, the most effective move may be Santiago, but I don't think that's a significant upgrade over what we have. Just a random thought in the risk/reward category...why not Juan Gonzalez? If we're talking Santiago who's injured, why not go with Juan Gone too? He'd come cheaper than Finley or Walker, and he may outproduce Finley if he's healthy... 473164 You can't make a deal for Santiago. He's on the DL until the middle of August and can't be traded while he's on the DL. By the time he comes off he'll have to pass through waivers in both leagues because he's with Kansas City (AL). I believe Juan Gon is on the DL too.

I know he hasn't played much this year, but he's only signed for this year, and in comparable games (27-33) he's pretty much equalled Walker's production except for B.A. (Gonzalez hit .276, Walker .306), and not in Colorado :cool . Either way, I think he deserves some serious consideration considering cost (prospects/contract) and reward. It's not as if he's any more of an injury risk than Walker...
