July 31, 200422 yr http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,3...2305143,00.html As the Rockies wait for catcher Charles Johnson to sign off on a deal to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the club revived a trade to send right fielder Admin Walker to the Florida Marlins. The Rockies would ship Walker to the Marlins for a major-league player, possibly from Florida's overcrowded outfield, and a minor-league prospect to help bridge the financial gap. Walker has a no-trade provision in his contract. On Thursday night he vetoed a trade to the Texas Rangers involving minor-league shortstop Ian Kinsler and pitcher Erik Thompson. Dont know if article has been posted :mischief2
July 31, 200422 yr it has been mentioned that the deal is back on. Plus, it wouldnt surprise me if the deal fluctuates, this happens at the deadline. Teams balk. I tell you though, Kinsler is one hell of a prospect. And the fact that we just dealt Nunez means something is going on...our 'overcrowded' OF just got less so. I know the deal was at one point suppose to have Enc and Nunez involved for Walker...so who knows.
July 31, 200422 yr Overcrowded outfield? Even before trading Nunez, we only had 5. Now were down to 4 and one of them will be needed to play first. It seems like we have an undercrowded outfield.
July 31, 200422 yr OK, I really didn't think it was going to end that quicky. I'm sure Colorado still wants to get rid of him.

July 31, 200422 yr we have 5 of as of right now enc, cab, niner, jp and harris. although conine or Cabs is goin to 1b
July 31, 200422 yr does anyone know what the talk was yesterday about him not wanting to come to florida? where did that come from, and is there truth to that? i know it was recently printed in the sentinel that he has a home in WPB, and his friends say he would like to play down here.
July 31, 200422 yr Hmm we wanted a reliever from colorado along wit walker,so now we already have our reliever "seanez",so this means the only thing breaking this deal apart is 1 mill and maybe walker
July 31, 200422 yr 4:00 is aproaching very fast 486671 Only 30 mins remaining... :thumbup 486676 Remember, trades can be announced later for strategic reasons.
July 31, 200422 yr I would have to say Walker would come to Florida, but I think what is holding up any possible deal is money. The Red Sox and Dodgers look to be out of it and the Braves and us are rumored to be the frontrunners. The Braves have money, but I dont think they are willing to spend it considering they are in first place and would have to deal someone to pull the trigger. I think it really comes down to us and the money. We have Enc to start the bargaining, and enough minor league prospects to complete the deal. This reminds me of the Hampton deal - it is about moving contracts and not necessarily about talent. The more money the Marlins take on, the less talent they have to give up.
July 31, 200422 yr where did you guys see that this deal was back on, cuz im sure most of you saw that espnnews is saying its off
