I don't want Walker's contract on the team next year, but then again I don't wwant Enc's contract either and Walker gives us a better chance of winning games IF he can stay healthy.

However the game was not on the offense's shoulders. They gave Dontrelle a lead to work with, and then battled back all but once to tie the game for him. First lead, a collision lost it. Then a homer. Then another homer. Three runs might not be alot, but it's on the pitching to lock down when the offense hasn't let you trail for an inning the entire game until you blow the lead/tie for the fourth time.

However, if you put the game away when you had the chance, and the Marlins had plenty of chances, then the pen can "cough up" all the runs they did yesterday and it couldn't have affected us. The thing is that we are scoring 3 runs per game so there is little margin for error and more pressure on the pitching. We need to use the opportunities given and we are wasting them...
August 4, 200422 yr Yes, the offense maybe should have gotten some more runs. But if the pen is going to blow close games for you anyways, what's the incentive to get them runs? You'll be losing in a less heart breaking way. Until the pen starts performing the offense has no incentive to hit for them. Say what you want about being professional and this and that, but the pen hasn't earned run support. Generally offenses don't give run support to those that don't earn it unless they are the 27 Yanks.

How did the Marlins offense do last ngiht in one of the better hitter parks? 494015[/snapback] thank you. and let's not forget that not a single pitcher we faced had an ERA under 5. there's plenty of blame to be heaped on the offense for that loss. in my mind, our offense won't be upgraded until we get another bat to put in the lineup (e.g. Admin walker). problem is, i don't like the idea of paying primo coin and prospect for him when our chances are looking extraordinarily slim anyway.
