September 3, 200421 yr According to Broward County officials, you need a building oermit to put up hurricane shutters on your home. How stupid is that??? :o :mad : :confused
September 3, 200421 yr I believe it is the same in Miami-Dade as well. The permit process is simply a way for the county to inspect the installation process and ensure all the proper materials have been used, and installed correctly. It is the same reasoning used for requiring permits on fences and pre-built hurricane resistent sheds.
September 3, 200421 yr Do you mean having them installed on your house or putting the panels up, because there is a difference? The company that installs them (the tracks, etc.) needs a permit, at least in Dade, but you certainly dont need a permit to actually put the shutter panels up.
September 3, 200421 yr Author We put the tracks up for the slide in type. And we bought the actual shutters. No where in Home Depot or Lowe's did we see any signs.
