its supposed to boot from the first hard drive (IDE 1 i believe) but i guess it cant find the OS? or something?

this has happened before but i dont remember what i did to solve it

im guessing it cant find the OS or where to boot from within the hard drive

I know it's too late now but you could have downloaded a Linux Live CD that boots from your CD drive. Knoppix is the most common one, then Slax. It's an OS that runs from the cd.

Maybe you might have been able to do something about it...im not sure though....like backing up your files...

what can i do running from knoppix or slax?

would i be able to back up my files on burned CDs?

does it run any windows-based software?

Assuming you can get Knoppix to boot then yes. There is a program with which you can burn cd's that comes with it. Theres support for printers. It has your basic programs like text editors, painting programs and the like....media players. etc..

I would have said it earlier but with so much homework these past few weeks I barely check all the forums like I normally would.
