with other nick names you can see where they come from, but where does pudge have any relation to his name or what he does?

He once said in an interview that in his first season as a Ranger, one of his coaches called him Pudge and there it's where it started...

lol who knows ask him when u see him in the staduim , he had that nick bame for about 20 years now

lol, dont ask him...at FanFest i said "whatsup Pudge?" when he was signing my baseball, and from there on out he was really nasty to me....i dont if that had to do what i called him but im not gonna call him that again :lol

 

 

 

also, i can see how he's kinda bulky, but he's also really fast...since when do they call a fast guy pudge? :mischief2

he was kinda chubby in the minors, and one of his coaches called him 'pudgy'

I read somewhere that they asked him if his name is pronounced like "Ivan" (the russian-sounding way) or "ee-VON"....he said "just call me Pudge." So I don't think he has a problem with the nickname.
