September 27, 200421 yr Selig is running out of time concerning the Expos. The DC city council says October 1 is the drop dead date for next year. The Baltimore owner is fighting. Numerous reports including the NY Daily News and Washington Post hint the Orioles are considering moving to the NL East. NY Daily News Bill Madden Washington Post Meanwhile the White Sox of all people have expressed an interest in moving to the AL East. Their thinking seems to be they would be noticed more in the third largest market playing in the same division as Boston and New York. Toronto would also love to move to the Central and then have 2 rivals close by (Cleveland and Detroit) So lets assume the Orioles move to the NL East, you would need a team to come to the AL. The prime canidate would be Florida. The Marlins would be assured of sellouts anytime Boston and New York play there as the east coast of the state has millions of transplanted northeasterns. So when the dust settles you could see AL EAST Boston Yankees White Sox Tampa Miami AL CENTRAL Toronto Detroit Cleveland Kansas City Minnesota NL East Washington Baltimore Philadelphia Mets Atlanta At first glance nobody loses on this deal Orioles pick up rivals 40 and 90 miles away Tampa and Miami become rivals Jays get Detroit and Cleveland White Sox get more media attention in Chicago.
September 27, 200421 yr I will personally shoot Bud Selig. I hate the AL, but if the Marlins go....so shall I to follow them.
September 27, 200421 yr It would make getting to the playoffs a near-impossibility with Yanks and Red Sox throwing around gazillions of dollars. So, IMHO, that would suck.

September 27, 200421 yr I'm sure that under that scenerio it would be the DC Expos playing in the AL East, not the Marlins.
