July 2, 200323 yr McKeon's opinion on personnel moves means as much to Beinfest and Loria as a squirt of pee on a hot day. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha...I may be an adult, but I still find potty humor funny. Squirt of pee. that and its late.
July 2, 200323 yr Here's one more for the late night gang.... When Beinfest talks about possible moves they may make and how they'll help the team he's pissing on your head and telling you it's raining. ok, I'l stop now. I'm a grown up. POOP!
July 2, 200323 yr I'm not saying (and I don't think Gammons is either) that Lowell will be traded this season. What we are saying is that the Fish will offer him a less than par-value contract in the off season. And when Lowell tells the low-balling fish to go sit on their thumb Loria can come out and say that they tried and turn it around on Lowell. Then they trade him before he goes to binding arby to somen that'll pay him. I didn't actually hear the comments, but from what I've read, I got the impression that he felt the Marlins statement meant nothing, and that they could just as soon deal him this year. If he meant, though, that this is just a con job so they can have an easier time dealing Lowell in the offseason, then fine. He's probably right. I didn't put much stock in the front office saying they'd try to lock him up anyway. Of course they'll try, and they'll probably fail. I think the important part of management's statement is that they will keep Lowell for the year. Gammons chose to focus on the other part, which isn't much of a statement at all. The Marlins could have continued to auction off Lowell to the highest bidder, but they've decided to close that door completely. I think it's a nice move for the team and the fans, but Gammons has chosen the path of cynicism.
