Gammons on ESPN...

Featured Replies

According to Gammons, the whole deal about the FO telling Lowell that he is going to stay is simply a "con job". The FO, he said, is best know for lying all the time and they are doing this to force Lowell to sign for less money. And if he declines, then they can always say that they tried. Would you believe this!!! I mean, obviously he doesn't have anything else to add to the topic since all his rumors were proven false and he is reverting to the Loria conspiracy theory... :banghead

Oh, by the way, all the other ESPN analysts, who don't know crap if it hit them in the head, say that the Marlins are a very good team, even an interesting team, but "unfortunately they are not going to win." They are counting us out already!!! I only hope we can prove them wrong for a change... :banghead

Those guys are so phucking stupid. They are all probaly butt buddies. These guys are player haters. I just hope we prove everyone the phuck wrong and win this WC race just to shove it in their face. :smlove

I hope they enjoy covering our wildcard race and NL East division race. 10 games out with 11 games left vs. Atlanta.

The past two citings for Gammons left out one thing...

1) Alou wasn't performing some duties very well.

2) Floyd was not performing well and he was an injury waiting to happen.

Too bad their opinions don't mean jack sh*t.

Pete Gammons = Fish Fillet?

This is just plain irresponsible PR spin by the Marlins. Especially to claim that Lowell isn't going anywhere. I think this may be a negotiation tactic, trying to win over pubic sentiment so Lowell looks like the bad guy when he wants to go to Arby and get what's coming to him instead of getting low-balled by the Fish.

Either way the fan gets screwed when we watch the Southern version of the Brewers..One star surrounded by BLue Light special scrubs.

Similar reponse to Gammons. Hmmmmmmm :mischief2

Yeah and Gammons has gone off screen and he has a computer at his side with an internet connection off camera?

It means every time you go around complaining about Fish Fillet and his sceptism(sp), yet all you do is post a little one line comment...

I have no reason to not trust these owners. Alou was in Montreal and I thought the Floyd deal was a savior for our team from his lazy, bum behind. He was not productive for us, when a player is not productive for us, then they should not play for us.

:marlins Admin Beinfest for GM of the Year!

How any person can find a problem with this is insane. The airwaves are rampant with Lowell rumors, and he's having to deal with it day in, day out. I'm sure the front office DID entertain thoughts of dealing him but have wisely decided that Lowell is the heart of this team and certainly cannot win this year without him. So they decided to put Mike at ease and put the rumors to rest. How is this a bad thing? And after the season they'll probably sit down and talk about a long-term deal with him. If they can't come to a deal, we'll complain about it when it happens. But to call it irresponsible??! WTF is wrong with you man?

Yeah, rumors and spreculation creating a feeding frenzy for his services... I'm sure Lowell and his agent are sleepless all night over that one. Then they fall asleep counting dollar signs.

What makes me even more leery (if that's even possible) is that on TV tonite Beinfest said that the FO and Lowell agreed to "sit down and talk later". Tha's a pretty big leap of faith Beinfest is making. He's gambling with alot, including the short term (2-3 yrs) future of the franchise and his own job.

As for Gammons and my psychic-like post that mirrored what he said later on. One, I think Gammons is a blow-hard, too. But as I said before, Gammons is merely a reflection of the prevailing conventional wisdom (he doesn't have an original thought in his head, see my post above for proof ;) ) and that wisdom is that this is a negotiating ploy, and a good one at that.

People in the SOFL market arent like me and you, they don't follow developements every day. If Loria comes out in February and says "well, he didn't want to sign with us, even after we went out on a limb in June and offered him a secure future" the public will give the FO a free pass b/c they don't know any better. A ssmitty thing to do, but very cunning nonetheless.

Gammons says a lot of stupid s***. In fact, he never stops spreading rumors, he's wrong probably 95% of the time, and his entire career is a giant farce.

A con job? There is NO WAY they trade Lowell this season. NO WAY. It would be the death of the franchise. They could have done it before today, and things would have gone on as they always have. But if they trade him this season, after what they said, there will be roughly 100 people at the ballpark the next night, and they will only be there because they're getting paid to be there.

Seriously, one day, Gammons should just stop spreading his s*** for a second and just listen to himself. The rest of you can hate Derrek Lee if you want, but I'm saving my spite for Gammons.

I'm not saying (and I don't think Gammons is either) that Lowell will be traded this season. What we are saying is that the Fish will offer him a less than par-value contract in the off season. And when Lowell tells the low-balling fish to go sit on their thumb Loria can come out and say that they tried and turn it around on Lowell. Then they trade him before he goes to binding arby to somen that'll pay him.

Gammons is not stupid, nor is he any of the other names he's been called here tonight. Before I go further let me say HIS REPORTING ON THE MARLINS IS AGENDA-BASED AND UNFAIR.

Gammons is still angry about Felipe Alou's alledged mistreatment in Montreal. Pete, get over it!

Gammons believes we should have signed Cliffie for $10 mil +. Well Pete, I suggest you're wrong and his performance since he was traded proves it. He's too hobbled to play the outfield, he's hitting .270 with 14 hrs, hardly what you expect from a $10 million man.

Gammons is a good union man. The FO is always to blame for everything in his mind, the players can do no wrong. It's a Boston thing, a bastion of unionism and I remember the long fights the Boston Globe, when Gammons was a beat reporter there, had with their unions. It's no reason his attitude was shaped the way it was.

But in the end, there's no excuse for Gammon's attacking this franschise almost nightly. He can keep trying to tilt all the windmills he likes but ultimately this team will prove him wrong.

That's all that matters.

Trader Jack even said when Cabrera played 3B for Lowell to DH "..not to read into anything..Lowell is still our 3Bman

McKeon's opinion on personnel moves means as much to Beinfest and Loria as a squirt of pee on a hot day.

Not saying that I beleive it, but it does fit that Cabs struggles and then the Marlins re-commit verbally to Lowell. Again, I'm not saying it's true or not, but people get convicted of murder on circumstantial evidence that is weaker than that.
