November 5, 200422 yr I just got a new one from our business. It covers 3 out 4 in my house. The other person is covered by MediCare and a Supplemental Insurance Plan. We haven't used it yet, but the company is Mid-West National Life Insurance Company of Tennessee. It was a package of benefits for small businesses like ours including dental and vision. It is one of the proposed association health care companies that allows small businesses to gather their strength and this is our insurance company. It uses the same doctor's network as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and almost everyone else here. So what is your company? What are your experiences?

November 5, 200422 yr Author Have you guys considered checking out an association health plan? http://www.acsa.com/plans/ It may be a bit cheaper, it may not. Your school may also offer tips for you to get covered. It is important in case, god forbid, you get sick away from home.

November 5, 200422 yr Author I am thinking going Fortis. Deductible Semi-Annual Total? $250 $709.00 Apply? $500 $463.04 Apply? $1,000 $363.20 Apply? $2,500 $288.84 Apply If the deductible is high, is that good or bad? 609173 Deductible is what you have to pay out of pocket before the company starts paying. The higher the deductible, the less you pay per month. The lower the deductible the more you pay. The deductible is usually based on a year. Let's say for example your deductible is $2,500. You pay $288.84 a month, you must also pay your deductible (first $2,500 of your health costs) before they will start paying out money. Some companies will pay things like doctor's visits, prescriptions, vision, dental, and certain tests done in the doctor's offices even if you have not payed your deductible.

November 5, 200422 yr Author Then I guess the link you gave is better than Fortis. 609192 My example was using the numbers you gave, the link I posted has prices, but you can also try other websites. We bought our insurance because the agent sent out letters to small business owners in our town and my mom called. We found out and now we have this company. I have had CAC-Ramsey, Av Med, CIGNA, and now Mid-West.
November 6, 200421 yr At my work, we have a cafeteria plan type choice where the individual employed is covered 100% but pay staggering premiums for their dependants.
