Blame the fans in other cities who hate the Marlins for absolutely no reason and voted a non-deserving Scott Rolen to start over Mike Lowell, and a not even giving others consideration. Blame the players for voting for their friends in the league. Rondell White? Um, the Marlins have backups performing better than him. Paul Lo Duca? Pudge put up more numbers in two weeks than Lo Duca has all year. Blame Bud Selig for instituting the rules that players can vote. I'm not even going to touch the issue on home game advantage. But having players vote is a terrible idea. Sometimes they'll vote well but alot of times they'll do the same favoritism deal the fans do. And 100 something players didn't even vote. Blame Dusty Baker for choosing undeserving all stars over Marlins. Where is Alex Gonzalez? OK he was slumping so maybe he lost his chance in the past couple of weeks. No Pudge Rodriguez? Is Paul Lo Duca really better than Pudge Rodriguez? Not on Pudge's worst day and Lo Duca's best is Pudge worse. And Brown and Gagne represented LA just fine. No Dontrelle Willis either? I shouldn't be saying either because it is probably up for arguement who deserved it more, Dontrelle or Mike. Kerry Wood over Dontrelle? Wood has more K's, but that is it and he has had more starts to do it in. Dontrelle, in less time, has two more wins, less losses, a better ERA (league leader if he qualified), and has allowed 6 runs in his last 57 innings. That is how many Wood gave up in his last start. And don't even get me started on Ortiz. There is more than one person to blame here. Bud is part to blame, he is second on the list. But the choices of Wood and Ortiz over Dontrelle are disgusting and I will be waiting for Dusty when he comes that series right after the all star break.
July 7, 200323 yr there is no way this will ever be fixed. like you said, players have favoritism also, but if they dont vote then the managers pick almost the entire team. the only option i guess is letting fans vote for the entire team, we all know how well voting for the starting lineups have worked
