July 7, 200322 yr That's right folks, it's Selig's fault. Dusty may have made some aweful decisions but he wasn't the one who created this mess. Old-school managers do not want to gamble on rockies, specially when it is the world series' home field advantage what's on the table. I believe that if Bud hadn't created this mess some of the deserving rockies out there (Dontrelle is not the only one) would have been chosen to represent their teams in the All Star Game.
July 7, 200322 yr we blame the commisioner when its a tie game and then we blame him when he tries to make people happy. this is out of hand. i dont like him much either but lets give him credit for the divisional alignment and the wild card, which without we would have no shot in hell in making the playoffs, and he's also the first commish to beat the union and avoid a work stoppage
July 7, 200322 yr No everyone has to beat on Selig because he is an easy target. I'm so tired of this s*** about blaming him.
July 7, 200322 yr Author what does the work stoppages, wc and new alignment has to do with the fact that he screwed up big time when he came up with the home field advantage idea.
July 7, 200322 yr i think the home field advantage idea is bad a** I thought it would be good, but I see now I was wrong... IT SUCKS.
July 7, 200322 yr and if he does nothing about the all star game than people would still b*tch and moan. your making it sound like this all-star game situation is more important than the things i mentioned.
July 7, 200322 yr Author listen, that's your own retarded iterpretation. i'm not saying it is more important or not. he gets credit for the good things he does, but he also should be criticized when he messes up and he did this time. there was nothing wrong with all star game except mismanagement, and it happened once.
July 7, 200322 yr its true that bad management is what caused the tie game last year, but who got all the blame? i dont like this home field advantage idea, i think its bulls***, but people wanted something done about the all-star game. if youre going to blame someone than blame all the fans that wanted Seligs head on a platter after last year. youre the one with the retarded idea of blaming the commisioner, the easy out.
July 7, 200322 yr No, Das for most he is the easy escape. They want someone new to blame and he's public enemy #1
July 7, 200322 yr why did he come up with the home advantage idea? to satisfy all the fans that wanted to kill him for last year. i got a feeling you're one of them.
July 7, 200322 yr what did you want bud to do after last year? first the fans whined about their guy not getting to play. then the managers make sure to play them all. then the fans whine about a tie game. so bud tries to make the game worth something again? what do you want? a 50 man roster per team?
July 7, 200322 yr Author i agree that dusty baker made terrible decisions. but selig created a mess when he attached importance to the all star game. it went from an exhibition to a do or die event. dusty should be blame for his mispicks, but selig is not completely innocent on this one.
July 7, 200322 yr Author listen, if you are going to let the fans dictate what to do when a crisis arises you are in big trouble. it is true most people asked for something to be done (i wasn't one of those), but ultimately it was selig's decision and he didn't make the best one. should he be forgiven because the fans pressured him? oh please.
July 7, 200322 yr Author he probably would still take s*** from some people, but that's always going to happen regardless.
July 7, 200322 yr yeah he made the decision to make people and i bet Fox happy, and he still cant f***ing win. the reason last year happened is because it was treated like an exhibition so it was felt everyone needed to play, he tried to change that, it wasnt the best option but it was something. as the commisioner he has to try to make the consumer happy, dont you get that? but obviously there is nothing he can possibly do to do that.
July 7, 200322 yr Author i agree that he has to make the consumer happy, but there's limmits to everything. i'm sure most consumers would want to go to the ball park for free, is he going to make it free to make'em happy? the truth is there was never a crisis like last time in the all star game. if it ain't broke don't fix it.
July 7, 200322 yr you know what i meant, he has to make people happy in order to make money. i even mentioned Fox, the home of the all-star game, they're paying millions to broadcast this game and last years.
