December 3, 200421 yr http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...spain_explosion Let's see how the new government in Spain handles ETA, although this time it wasn't a major attack like they used to do back in the day.
December 3, 200421 yr If the new government of Spain responds the same way they did to the train bombings before their elections, the Basques may finally get independence. :mischief

December 6, 200421 yr 7 more bombs today. Eta' blasts hit Spanish cities Seven small bombs have gone off in urban areas across Spain, following warnings from Eta Basque separatists. Blasts were reported in Leon, Avila, Santillana del Mar, Ciudad Real, Malaga and Alicante. The Basque newspaper Gara said it had received two calls from people claiming to be from Eta, warning of seven bombs on Monday - a public holiday in Spain. Police had started evacuating areas listed by the callers, but some people were slightly injured. Officials in the northern Spanish coastal town of Santillana del Mar said some people were wounded by the blast in their town. There are no reports yet of injuries elsewhere. A local radio station in Ciudad Real reported that the blast there had gone off in the kitchen of a bar. Monday's co-ordinated attacks followed five explosions at petrol stations in Madrid on Friday. bbc
December 6, 200421 yr Gotta give it to ETA, at least they have some honor and they try their best not to injure anyone. Terrorist or not, they have more credibility than alot of governments in this regard.

Before Iraq, AQ probably didnt give a damn about Spain. And following the will of their people isnt exactly going to cause the US to turn on Spain.

Why have their been al qaeda linked attacks in france then? And if you think back to shortly after 9/11 (about 3 months after) some interpol agents arrested several al-qaeda operatives in south east spain, it was all over the news, but of course selective memory is a great thing. This just shows how unrewarding anti-terrorism work is. Islamic terrorists and all terrorists really are very intelligent, spain's iraqi military force was not so formidible that a large scale train bombing needs to be set up to get them to pull out. The attack was to affect the election in the hope that the new leader will not be so hard on them, and to strike back at a nation that is classically anti-muslim and a pivotal part of the west`
