December 16, 200421 yr My theory is the travel from LA, San Fran and San Diego (all near sea level) to Arizona and Colorado (very high altitudes) so many times a year tires Lo Duca more than our schedule does. I point to his second-half dropoff and how it was staved off when he came to the Marlins for a while. Another thing I point to is the lack of long NL West catcher tenures since Colorado came into the NL in 1993.
December 16, 200421 yr They're basically the same player. High-average some power no patience questionable defense. Sign the one who is cheaper.
December 16, 200421 yr LoDuca is our man. We only had him for a couple months and he had more than a season's worth of walkoff gamewinning hits for us. Not to mention his homerun in his first Marlins plate appearance. The dude is clutch as hell and never strikes out. LoDuca is a special player. He can hit for average, drive in runs, offers solid power, and he can run well too. Pierre, Castillo, and LoDuca batting at the top of the order fits our style perfectly. 636552[/snapback] Yeah, he never strikes out. He just kills rallies by grounding into double plays.
December 17, 200421 yr You gotta sign Duki...Not because hes a 'nice' guy, but because the guy puts up decent numbers, plays good defense, AND is an all around team player. You always want a guy in the clubhouse that can take on a leadership role and gets along with everyone. What you think Big C?
December 17, 200421 yr The Marlins don't already have that guy in Conine? And Lowell? And Castillo? And Lenny Harris?
