Sign Lo Duca!

Featured Replies

After this AJ thing gets resolved, the next order of business has to be signing LoDuca for a couple of years. A couple of fans on here don't like him and I can't see why. He trys harder than anyone and is a good influence in the clubhouse. His offensive numbers are better than almost any catcher in the NL. Let's lock him up.

I'm with you, man... The people that don't like him haven't had a chance to see him much, I'm guessing. The city of Los Angeles wasn't in mourning after the trade because he was a nice guy... They realized they were losing a special player, both off the field and on the field... If the Marlins can make sure he gets some rest here and there, he can put consistent numbers up through the entire season....

I dont like him but there is nothing out there better, although I think we should talk with Pierzysnki

Man if baseball clubs were in the business of signing nice guys then I'd be up for a job somewhere. Screw nice, clubhouse types. I want onfield production and Lo Duca isn't anything but mediocre in that category. If he's the best we can get than so be it.

Not really and that was my point, although I didn't name AJ directly.

Sure, lets trade one of the nicest guys on the team for a guy all about the money (Pierzynski). I think not. Pierzynski can't play defense either.

I like Lo Duca a lot, and I'd like him to be with the Fish for several years to come if possible. We should hurry up and sign him.

I'm really confused about this whole "nice" thing. Enlighten me.

It's not about taking a nice guy over a mean guy... If that were the case, I'd say screw em all and make Mordy the catcher...

However, if you have two guys who are fairly equal in talent... one being a great clubhouse presence (meaning he knows how to pick up his teammates and act as a cheerleader in the dugout, pumping the team up - i.e - Lo Duca) vs a guy who just isn't (i.e - Pierzynski), who would you want...

One of the knocks on Pierzynski is he continually questions balls and strikes by the umpires, which pitchers sometimes think ends up hurting them. Opposing hitters also want to beat his arse cause he won't shut up during their at bats...

nothing wrong with that!

No, that's the one thing that might actually benefit the team if he can really distract hitters... I just wanted to throw it out there cause it's another reason he gets a bad rap.

AJ Pierzynski is 4 years younger, just as good a hitter, entering his prime, pisses off opposing hitters, and in terms of money- could be cheaper or = to Lo Duca

where do I sign?

Los Angeles loved LoDuca because he was great in the clubhouse. He has done a great job here too. Pierzynski has caused trouble in Minnesota and San Fran now.

I think AJ made around $3.5mil last year...

offer him a 2-3 year at $4-5mil per....

he is just entering his prime here and considering we dont have a catcher in the minors right now, it would be nice to be set for a bit

Why would you want Pierzynksi over LoDuca? They put up the same numbers and one is a complete douchebag who nobody in baseball likes.

lol exactly

This is the first time I've heard anything about A.J. causing trouble in Minnesota. Everything I heard from there was that he was universally loved and the clubhouse prankster.

Because that douchebag could probably be signed for a lot cheaper.

age and he is entering his prime

LoDuca is our man. We only had him for a couple months and he had more than a season's worth of walkoff gamewinning hits for us. Not to mention his homerun in his first Marlins plate appearance. The dude is clutch as hell and never strikes out. LoDuca is a special player. He can hit for average, drive in runs, offers solid power, and he can run well too. Pierre, Castillo, and LoDuca batting at the top of the order fits our style perfectly.
