Really, what the hell are the Dodgers doing?

I'll stick to my opinion, thanks.

How about the San Francisco Bonds have been 1st or 2nd for the past 8 seasons. There is no team in San Francisco outside of Bonds and Schmidt, and this will be evident as soon as one of them are gone.

Sorry, you're right again... I forgot that 10% of a team can do so much..

And Schmidt joined the Giants in 2001, by the way.. So, I guess only Bonds contributed to all winning seasons from 1993 through 2000 then... Oh yeah, and this was mostly the Bonds "pre-juice" era...

Or the lack of talent in the West at the time? Who else made the playoffs in the 90's from the NL West? The Rockies? Nuff said.

Sabean, DePodesta, and Beane are all currently high on the same ish. DePodesta is probably being forced into this (I hope for he sake he is), so the worst is Beane. But Omar multiyear? Dumping AJ for Mike Matheny? Armando was a solid move, but you overpaid. When Bonds retires, last place is waiting.

Once Bonds retires, the Giants are expected to make a splash with a big free agent signing... They'll be fine for years to come.

Well, obviously, but it's good to know that they plan on adding someone that will be a huge presence in that lineup once he's gone... I think the Giants would have made a push for Vladimir Guerrero last season or Carlos Beltran this season if Bonds had retired either of the past 2 years.. I'm glad he hasn't, but every year there is a big free agent and the year Bonds decides to hang it up, the Giants will be in the running for him...

LOL...right...they are going to need to invest in 3 All Star players to replicate the juiced numbers....no way any player (without roids) can replace Bonds numbers.

And when Bonds is gone so too will be there entire lineup including Grissom, Durham, Snow, Vizquel, and Tucker and if not retired on the downside of their careers. The Giants have just ridden the Bonds ride for the last 4 years, they are going to get smacked really hard when they realize in a few years most of their lineup is eligible for social security.

by the time Bonds retires, we will have the best rotation in baseball. Foppert was the #1 pitching prospect in baseball just a year ago, Lowry and Williams will continue to develop into top pitchers , Matt Cain is the closest thing to a sure thing this team has ever had, and Merkin Valdez is a top prospect, although I'm not so sure about him because I've seen how people like him have turned out.

Mike Matheny is a huge upgrade over Piershitski, Benitez was the only true closer left on the market and we needed a true closer, and if we had offered anything less we wouldn't have gotten him, and as for Omar, maybe 3 years is questionable, but all i worry about now is this year, and this year he's a huge boost, especially considering his price (2.5M).

Beane's doing alright. Mulder is damaged goods. Hudson may be as well, and he would be gone after this year anyways. They are taking a couple hits now so they can be much stronger in the future. More GMs should take a lesson like that.

As for DePodesta, the guys an idiot.

Sabean is one of the guys that just thinks about now, and right now the Giants have improved upon their 91 win team. Beane is sacrificing a little of the present to get a lot for the future. DePodesta is just having a firesale but not getting much in return.*

Bill Plaschke is an idiot. Vazquez is every bit as good as Penny (if not better) and Shawn Green is the most horridly overpaid player in baseball. They're moaning about LoDuca, but the deal would've given the Dodgers a top catching prospect to replace the completely overrated LoDuca.

First off, every team thinks they have the best future rotation in baseball. Come to me when it happens.

I'll be waiting for you when you're angry at Matheny in April for not hitting.

Yeah this year he's fine but a multiyear deal? That's some good hasheesh.

The Hudson deal was absolutely horrible. I understand getting something for nothiing, but he could have held on to him and gotten a King's Ransom later. Hell, he was demanding all this talent from other teams and he settles for that? And I'm wondering why everyone has such high esteem for Beane but looks down on Jocketty like Billy's tool.....do you honestly think Walt would trade for damaged goods? You better believe he went through every means possible to make sure that guy was healthy and good to go.

DePodesta has yet to live up to any of his expectations. In my book right now he's plain horrible.
