Wade Miller signed by Boston

'stros are cost cutting for Beltran.

That shouldn't be necessary. They already got rid of Jeff Kent and it doesn't look like Roger is coming back. Signing Beltran would be irrelevant, if they don't do something about the pitching staff. As it is, whatever benefits they get from a full season of Beltran probably won't make up for what they will lose from replacing Jeff Kent.

Im not going to keep defending the Miller signing. I know it sucks when your teams big free agent signing is Antoni Alfonseca, but dont take it out on me. 1.5 mil is a lot to the Marlins, but nothing to the Red Sox. He pitches, they lok like geniuses, they dont it wont be made out to anything and will just be an experiment that didnt pan out. So please, stop ridiculing every move because it doesnt fit the bill for a team like the Marlins.

Thanks.

I'm just pointing out that you Red Sox fans can't claim some sort of superiority to the Yankees (because you don't spend a lot of money), when you act just like the Yankees. Only a team as well-heeled as the Sox can afford to give a guy like Miller $1.5 million to rehab for them. If the Marlins were rolling in that kind of cash, I wouldn't blame them for making that move, but don't try to act like the Sox are any different from the Yankees. They're not.

To some degree we are. Management is tryign to rid themselves of bad long contracts. (Why else could a player of Manny Ramirez's stature be on the block?). The new management wont sign any bad long term deals either.

Alot of our money is a hold over from pre-Theo.

Our payroll wont touch the Yankees this year especially after we deal another one of our 1B and get Kim off the books.
