When you ask someone about great guitarists, Jimi Hendrix's name will be there. While he only was able to make music for a short period of time due to an abrupt death during his prime, no one can question the impact Hendrix had on his era and on music as a whole. He took many folk songs from Bob Dylan and made them into rock sensations. His guitar played like a the song of a siren, so appealing that you could not help but follow it along whatever path it may lead. His solos are so reknown that Top 100 lists for Guitar pieces are splattered with material by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. And this is all, of course, with only three CDs released.

When you ask someone about great bands, Led Zeppelin will definetely be there. The leader of Led, Jimmy Page, wasn't always the flashiest or the most renown. Many music fans know the names of the Big 3 - Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton, but it's 'that guy who did Stairway' whose name isn't remembered but whose guitarwork is still marveled. When young children pick up their first guitars, the first song they try to learn is Stairway to Heaven, complete with a note by note education in Page's solo. His guitar riffs are some of the most well known of all time, and though some might only know him as 'that guy from Led', there is no questioning his imprint on music of the 70's and everything since.

Page. I have every single Led CD so I know his work. His rang is incredible and the variety of songs he produced is amazing. He wrote most all the music for Led and alot of the lyrics as well.

Can't go wrong with either. I go with Hendrix but it says alot for Page that Led Zep 1 was basically his solo CD. Perhaps my favorite Led Zep cd too...

I love Page, but Hendrix is unquestionably #1
