Featured Replies

Should have happened a couple years ago, but better late than never for the Hawks to finally show some class and get this scum outta Iowa City.

University of Iowa basketball student-athlete Pierre Pierce has been permanently dismissed from the team. The announcement came today from Head Coach Steve Alford.

"Effective, immediately, Pierre Pierce has been dismissed from the University of Iowa men's basketball team," said Alford.

"I regret this step has become necessary, but Pierre has betrayed the trust we placed in him when he was given a second chance two years ago. Pierre is an excellent basketball player who will be missed by our team. But, given the circumstances, I feel this is the only appropriate response."

Pierce, a 6-4, 195-pound junior guard from Westmont, IL, was Iowa's leading scorer with a 17.8 average. He was a strong candidate for all-Big Ten honors. He started 80 of 84 games during his Iowa career.

He scored 1,072 career points and had 305 assists in his two-plus years with Iowa. He was co-Most Valuable Player for the Hawkeyes last year and was a third-team all-Big Ten choice. Pierre was named to the Gazette Challenge all-tournament team the last two years.

He was given a second chance as many other coaches before have done. He blew it. I'm glad he's off the team.

I'm glad he's gone too. I really like and respect Iowa's football program, and my crusade against their basketball program can now end. :lol

I feel sorry for the victim and the rest of the players and coaches on the team. This kid really had everyone fooled.. no priors and you could see where the first thing could have been a mistake and he was given a second chance. I am monumentally disappointed with this kid. I've met him a couple times in person coupled with seeing his mannerisms on the court.. so mild mannered and laid back. You never would have thought of him like that off the court. So disappointing... I hope he gets help.

Well now, lets see how our boys play on the court and hopefully the fans come and support 'em.. and now I'll finally be able to see our stud freshman Carlton Reed get some PT.. Adam Haluska is gonna have to step up big time.

go hawks
