July 14, 200322 yr http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation...ng?event_id=316 Not only is Dontrelle walking away with NL ROY (winning with 80%), He is in the lead in NL CY Young by 10% as well.
July 14, 200322 yr Not only is Dontrelle walking away with NL ROY (winning with 80%), He is in the lead in NL CY Young by 10% as well. With his stat line, why not?
July 14, 200322 yr With his stat line, why not? I don't disagree at all (see my post in the midseason awards thread). Just interesting that a big chunk of the rest of the US agrees with me.
July 14, 200322 yr Just interesting that a big chunk of the rest of the US agrees with me. Why? He gets more media attention than any other pitcher in baseball. It was more shocking to people that Dontrelle, a rookie, was left off the AS team than the best pitcher in baseball (pedro) and maybe the best in history (Clemens). Like I've aid. If he can get 19+ wins, very little losses, more K's than IP, and an ERA around where it is now (arouns 2.50 or under), and we win at least 85 games, I would not at all be suprised if he won it. It would be great for the game of baseball if he won it.
July 14, 200322 yr What suprised me today about Dontrelle (since we're talking about media attention) was that yesterday when D-Dub gave up 2 runs in 5 innings, they put him on the front cover, Of the front page of the Miami Herald... If Mark Redman gave up 2 runs in 5 innings they wouldnt even put him on the cover of the sports section let alone the front page. just to give you an idea on how much attention Dontrelle gets....(not that he doesnt deserve it, because he does, just putting it into prospective)
July 14, 200322 yr If Mark Redman gave up 2 runs in 5 innings they wouldnt even put him on the cover of the sports section let alone the front page. Mark Redman isn't 21, and didn't come up from just AA about 2 months ago, but I get your point.
July 14, 200322 yr Mark Redman isn't 21, and didn't come up from just AA about 2 months ago, but I get your point. And the most important thing (sadly): He isn't black.
July 14, 200322 yr And the most important thing (sadly): He isn't black. I as going to say that, but held back. Hey, he's of a minority, and that can only help baseball!
July 14, 200322 yr I as going to say that, but held back. Hey, he's of a minority, and that can only help baseball! true, he's one of the few dominant african american pitchers
July 14, 200322 yr I as going to say that, but held back. Hey, he's of a minority, and that can only help baseball! Naw its more of the fact that hes the black minority. If he was a latin it wouldn't make front page every time.
