February 24, 200521 yr Who the heck schedules Longwood at this point in a season. At one point, it was 42-7. What a pathetic game.
February 24, 200521 yr Most ACC schools schedule one ACC game in december and one non-conference game later on (ie Duke will play St Johns, UNC played UConn) But Wake playing Longwood in the last week of February is a total joke
February 24, 200521 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=240570150 Of course it was broadcasted by ESPN. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch that game? BTW, Good piece in the Washington Post on Longwood today. link
February 24, 200521 yr If Duke did this it would be an outrage.... 693821[/snapback] See link above. No outrage. The game was even nationally broadcasted.
February 24, 200521 yr I know a few people going to Longwood, but in all seriousness scheduling a team like Longwood this deep in the seaosn really doesnt make any sense. Maybe in December but whatever good times for Wake

February 24, 200521 yr Duke's reasoning for scheduling Valpo was that it was the type of team they were likely to face in the first or second round or so of the tourney, so they felt it was a good way to prepare. That's what I remember Coach K saying, anyway. Longwood isn't really in the same league. But whatever. I don't have a problem with this game being scheduled. The Longwood players were probably happy as hell to be playing Wake. Sure, they knew they'd get their butts kicked, but they're getting their butts kicked by much worse teams than Wake, so why not have some fun...
February 24, 200521 yr Yeah, I remember Dick Vitale saying that last year when ESPN broadcasted the game. According to Skip Prosser's comments, they were to play Longwood earlier in the year, but the preseason NIT came up and had to reschedule.
