July 21, 200323 yr Milwaukee: The decision to play games in Milwaukee (including State Fair Park, above inset; and County Stadium, above right) played a key role in the Packers' survival. It allowed the team to tap a larger market and thwart any efforts to establish another competing pro football team there. The Packers played games in Milwaukee for 62 straight years (1933-94) until opting -- mostly for financial reasons -- to move all games to Green Bay beginning with the 1995 season From the Green Bay Packers Official Website. That is how they were able to survive. They had two home parks, Green Bay and Milwaukee.
July 21, 200323 yr Author Cape your exactly right. That is how the Packers survived. My first ever Packers game was a Packers/Falcons game (which ironically enough was the opponents the Pack faced last time I went to their game, but the Pack was slaughtered) Anyways the Pack won that game on a Favre run with :10 seconds to go in the 4th quarter. The last Packer game I went to, GB got slaughtered by Vick. :o
July 21, 200323 yr Phlub, that would be like the Dolphins or Bucs playing their games between the Orange Bowl in Miami and Old Tampa Sadium in Tampa with no other football team in the state, if that were the case, then the Florida team would sell out for as long and as much as the Packers did.
July 22, 200323 yr Author Dude Cape. Milwaukee was on the verge of getting a pro football team in the late 70's or early 80's and they did a survey of the state of Wisconsin and only 4% wanted a team other then the Packers in Wisconsin! 4%! That shows loyalty. It shows that Wisconsin doesn't want anyone but the Green and Gold. They also did a poll for fun last year to see what the results were. Only 3.2% now want a team other then the Packers in Wisconsin. Try and beat that with any stat you want.
