MarlinFan10
Wow this really ruins our school's reputation. :plain Teacher Investigated For Allegedly Wielding Knife In Classroom Woman Allegedly Plunged Knife Into Stack Of Papers POSTED: 11:49 am EST March 4, 2005 UPDATED: 1:34 pm EST March 4, 2005 PARKLAND, Fla. -- Broward County officials say a high school teacher in Parkland had a knife in class Wednesday, and now school investigators have to determine exactly what she did with it. Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School School district spokesman Joe Donzelli said Lynn Deering has been reassigned, pending the outcome of the investigation. Deering teaches anatomy and physiology to juniors and seniors at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. Students told school administrators that Deering showed them a knife during Wednesday's class and then plunged it into a stack of papers on a student's desk. Donzelli said officials don't have all the specifics but that they've determined Deering may not have used the knife appropriately. The school board is looking into the allegations. Parkland Broward Sheriff's Office Chief Dave Carry said no arrests have been made and no one was injured. Link
miami15
Ok, you go to the school, waht have you heard about this?
wanks1212
Lynn Deering was my 8th grade science teacher, and she was weird even then (though I didn't suspect this weird/crazy). There were incidents of her cursing out students for messing up an experiment. She's also handicapped and in a wheelchair, and every morning she would ask students to help her out of her car - not an unreasonable request until one heard the verbal abuse she would put upon the students. She also trained dogs and would bring multiple dogs to school during the week, which seemingly wasn't the best thing to do in a science class when you were experimenting with chemicals. Overall, just a weird lady.
MarlinFan10
She has to be going 30 mph in her little electric wheelchair. I'm surprized she hasn't run anybody over yet. Everybody in atamony was estatic today about her being gone from Douglas, apparently she was a total wacko. Teachers at Douglas dodged any question about the incident all day even after a flyer was passed out saying "a teacher placed a knife on a student's desk". Supposedly she kept the knife as paper weight.
wanks1212
She has to be going 30 mph in her little electric wheelchair.? I'm surprized she hasn't run anybody over yet.? 702431[/snapback] Oh yeah she did that. Always high comedy when she'd nearly hit 6th graders at high speed and then yell at them for not moving out of the way. The deer in the headlights looks the kids would get after she yelled at them were priceless.

wanks1212
Not really, I'd say somewhere in her early to mid 50's at oldest, because I think she was somewhere in her 40's when she taught me.

FutureGM
There are plenty of weird teachers that are employed in South Florida, and this is just one of them. My old high school's previous music teacher is currently imprisoned in Michigan after several cases of child molestation charges.
