Shingo Takatsu-- pitches

Featured Replies

He throws an 84 to 88 MPH Fastball with tailing action, a wicked slow changeup to pull the string at about 65 to maybe 70 MPH, and then this crazy looking curveball known in White Sox nation as a "frisbee" that moves everywhere and only goes about 60 MPH.

From what ive heard, the fastball changeup, but his sinker is one of his biggest pitches, a slider, a curve, than something like a slurve he'll throw sometimes... Nasty

Well, he was the all-time Japanese saves leader.

I got his autograph through the mail last season on a RC.

Ahh the frisbee...it's similar in principle to El Duque's eephus pitch--very slow with a lot of strange movement. Shingo's sidearm delivery makes it look like a frisbee, hence the name. It has an arc shape to it, but that's not because of the movement--it's because it's going 55 mph.

Can you let us know the other pitches he usually throws?

Sorry... a couple days late on this. He has a fastball that I've seen get up to around 88, but it looks like 110 after the frisbee. He also has a sinker and a slider.
