And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often

mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It

is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant

country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy

associated it than Iraq.

And also... This is something to think about! Since America is

typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)

Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a

fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the

lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still

more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah;

and there was peace.

(Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?!

Wow, that is incredibly wow. :o

Yeah. unfortunately I don't own a Koran but I will have to check into that.

Koran 9:11

"11. But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand. "

koran

OK that's interesting. Perhaps it's in a different chapter. Who knows.

the word "eagle" doesn't exist in the koran according to

eagles?!

Don't get to into that apocalyptic stuff CFD. Anyone can interpret anything anyway they like.

I haven't read the Koran in a few years - I think it's good for everyone to read at least a few chapters or so of it.

Agreed. It's refreshing to see how alike the major world religions are and it also serves to see how other cultures have expressed their notions of god, higher power, whatever.

c'mon Sham .. it can be fun ... here is one you may like

"[105.1] Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with the possessors of the elephant?

[105.2] Did He not cause their war to end in confusion,"

elephant is the symbol of the republican party so you could say they are the possessors of the elephant

As long as it's just fun. People who take this s*** seriously are dangerous. See all the nut-cases who watch Hal Lindsey and think he's some sort of prophet. They think GWB is Jesus incarnate and that the world is going to end in their lifetimes. How many different religions and people have predicted that in the last, oh, 2000 years? Anyway, if it's just for fun, have a blast. Otherwise, seek help.

i agree ... it seems enough of these doomsday things have turned out bogus over the past couple of centuries, people would realize that it's probably not going to happen

however, people get wacky and do crazy things ... i tend to dislike the churches that are founded on that premise .... you better be on the good side of the ledger when christ returns

here is a little blurb about some doomsday cults

doomsday per religious tolerance

Whether it's of a divine nature or not, doomsday is a reality.

Claim: Quranic verse speaks of the "wrath of the Eagle cleansing the lands of Allah."

Status: False.

Example: [Collected on the Internet, 2003]

Quran (9:11) -- For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

Origins: No, this isn't a legitimate quotation from the Quran (or Koran), the sacred text of Islam. The chapter and verse citation quoted above is a leg-pull, an obvious play on the USA's (the Eagle) launching of military action against Afghanistan and Iraq (the "lands of Allah") in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks on America organized by Osama bin Laden (the "son of Arabia awakening a fearsome eagle"). That the chapter and verse selection match the date of the terrorist attacks (9:11) is another giveaway to the joke.

Depending upon which translation of the Quran one uses, the section corresponding to chapter 9, verse 11 actually reads something like this:

But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know.

you beat me too it dood.

there was never a 9:11 verse that 'predicted' 9/11 in the koran.

thats silly.

this info has been otu on the net for years now, especially the iraq part

:)

i don't disagree with that ... it all depends on context

i believe in a basic cycle of living things ... the earth will one day die

if there is a religious aspect to both the creation and destruction can be argued ... also timing ... i have a hard time believing the earth will flame out any time soon

maybe natural disaster will take it down, but in that case i'd probably die pretty quickly, so it's not something i'm going to concern myself with
