on paper, complete team...one would have to think either the cardinals or yankees...i would also have the redsox there and if the marlins pitchers pitch to their potential and the offense clicks i put them right there at the top.

Games aren't played on paper, they are played inside T.V. sets. Although usually, the best team on paper wins the division, since 162 games makes a cinderella story VERY difficult to play out.

thanks, i think it could be the marlins or cardinals, i mean both have great offenses, good pitching and a good bullpen, yankees, red sox and braves are there, too

Wrong. Apparently you've never heard of Kenny Mayne.....that's his saying, not mine.....

On paper, it's by far the Yankees, but the fatigue of the regular season grind combined with the pressure from ownership and fans will suck it out of this team. If we're talking best team right now, I'd have a hard time picking between the Angels, Marlins, and Yankees...all three of those teams have all the pieces in place, it's just a matter of staying healthy and playing to potential...

I would say the best team on paper is the Chicago Cubs. No one has the top three starters they have when healthy. It's a shame they let Clement go or I would say top 4. Also, talent-wise with Ramirez, Garciaparra, Patterson, and Lee, they are as good as almost anyone. It's also a shame they lost Alou. Last year, I thought they had by far the best team in the majors, and if they could have snuck into the playoffs with Prior, Wood, and Zambrano healthy they would have been very tough to beat. I don't think the Cardinals can be considered the best team as long as they have mediocre starting pitching. They are a team built for the regular season in a very mediocre division. They just don't have the elite starting pitching to win a World Series. As for the Angels, I don't understand why people think they are so good. They have no starting pitching. True they have a great bullpen, but in the end that just isn't as important.
