July 26, 200323 yr Q: Has the Marlins' front office ever tried to make amends with you? By the way, love your radio show on WQAM! Steve Douglas, Miramar, FL A: Not at all. If anything, it's been the opposite. I know for a fact the owner and team president have been badmouthing me to several of my friends in the industry. What's worse is they have threatened to fire certain front office and scouting employees if they talk to me. How pathetic. Q: Why are so many national baseball writers ripping the Marlins for the Ugueth Urbina trade? Barry Rosen, Newton, NJ A: I'm not sure that's true. Many are giving the Marlins credit for at least trying to make a playoff run. The most notable dissenter has been my friend Ken Rosenthal of The Sporting News, who quoted a general manager that called the move "idiotic." I think that's way too harsh. The Marlins had a gaping hole in their bullpen and Urbina has closed it. Unfortunately, they overpaid by at least one player or perhaps $1 million. If they fade in the next week, they can always flip Urbina to a legitimate contender, although teams like the Yankees and Giants have already addressed their needs to an extent. There a bunch more here http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basebal...brien.htmlstory These are just some I thought interesting.

No 57% 3286 Total Votes? 5815 Thats a poll I found in the PBP Is anyone surprised that would be the results in Palm Beach County? There is no, zero, zilch chance of an MLB stadium being built there anyways so both the poll and the results are irrelevant. In Miami, where there is already a tax mechanism in place, and the chances are best for a new stadium, a recent Miami Herald poll showed a whopping 69% of the respondents thought that using tax dollars for a new stadium was a good idea. Richard Bush must have been so unhappy fellow to see that in his own newspaper. Tough luck Dick.
July 26, 200323 yr I like Berardino most of the time, but this little feud with the FO has gotten preposterous. I have never seen such a spectacularly unprofessional debacle within the print media. Both sides have absolutely no concept of professional decorum. Shame on Berardino for going to print with these little barbs repeadedly. And shame on the Marlins for skewing the healthy journalistic competition b/t local print media by playing favorites and tampering with the process of reporting. Preposterously embarrassing.

Mr. FiletO'Fish, I find myself agreeing with you far too much for my taste, I may have to see a doctor about it on. It's easy to blame the Marlins for everything, they are sittin ducks, but in this case berardino has at least equal blame. Publishing that Q/A regarding his working relationship with the front office seemed to me like a little kid coming home and saying "mommy mommy, Johnnie took my ball and won't give it back". I respect Mike, and I like his writing style, we email back and forth from time to time, but I think he's not doing his career any good with the way he's handling this. He's on the outside looking in right now, which is an unpleasant place to be for a guy who makes his living reporting what's happening on the inside. But in the final analysis, respect him as I do, he has himself to blame for this and no one else.
