Posted May 29, 200519 yr For not giving in to Mota's demands to be the closer. Todd Jones is our closer :thumbup .
May 29, 200519 yr Mota didn't do a terrible job. I think he's the best reliever we have. Ever more the reason why he shouldn't be used exclusively in the 9th-inning with a lead closer role.
May 29, 200519 yr No doubter. :thumbup  I saw he had the 3rd lowest ERA on TV... Anyways, it's a clear choice to go with Jones. He's just been too good to take him out. Why would Jack take him out when he's doing great?

May 29, 200519 yr For not giving in to Mota's demands to be the closer. 788393 what are you talking about? Mota "demanding" to be closer lol

May 29, 200519 yr "I'm here to close games. As soon as I'm fine, I think that's my job,'' said Mota, who could be activated Friday.  Believe that's what he was referring to, http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...c=43483&hl=Mota

Thanks for the post.
May 29, 200519 yr Author For not giving in to Mota's demands to be the closer. 788393 what are you talking about? Mota "demanding" to be closer lol 788453 Wasn't there an article a few days ago where Mota went on a rant about how it's his job and he expects to have it back when he returns, etc.? edit: n/m, foladar posted it.
May 29, 200519 yr Sure Mota looked a bit shaky. But it was just his 2nd appearance since coming off the DL. It'll take a few until he really gets it going.
May 29, 200519 yr Mota still needs to be worked in. Once the rust is off, he will be the man. Jones has done an awesome job stepping up.

As soon as I'm fine, I think that's my job,'' said Mota, who could be activated Friday. Mota also said he would abide by whatever McKeon decides, including the possibility of setting up Jones as Mota did in Los Angeles for Eric Gagne. "I'm not thinking, 'I want to be the closer or I want to be the setup man.' I'm thinking about getting ready, and they'll make that decision,'' Mota said. Little different when you change the bold isn't it.

Mota didn't demand to close. he just stated his opinion on the situation, it was his job to close games. He isn't going to make a big deal out of it though, and didn't really demand to be the closer. he just feels it's his job.
